I recommend making your entire team level 5 before progressing to part 4 of chapter 1 (the boss).

I also recommend getting used to Geo symbol strategy. Try going into item world (lady is near hospital and shop) to learn better Geo Symbol use. Go into a cheap item, like Mint Gum-they are much easier. Save before you do go, and be prepared to die if you are unlucky. The only way to leave is to loot or (later) buy a gency's exit item, and use it, OR to reach level 10 or a multiple of 10.

Hehe, new horrors are unleashed on my foes as my mages begin to learn Magic Boost (maximum combined INT boost 2x normal INT) to maximize damage, while taking my magical wind and ice storms to bigger and bigger AOEs as my spells level increases, as does my staff level.

In other news, 2 new additions to my team: a fire mage (the last type in Disgaea's magic trinity), created by and thus apprenticed to my ice mage), and a thief. Having a thief revealed something: most enemies have a difficult to steal stat boost, given to the stealer upon success. i wasn't aware of this until I stole with the thief: if you're chance to steal a given item is 0, then it doesn't even show up.

It's funny; my thief stole an opposing wind mage's desires, and gained an SP boost from it. Permanently, that is. then she stole a warrior's Strength, and his attack dropped while the thief gained, permanently. I bought a more expensive thief hand item and used Laharl to steal the first boss's dreams [of conquest], and he died instantly while giving Laharl 1 stat point across the board.
