      Okay, so the deal is that what you actually need is an ELF file.

      A lot of my basic searching is saying just to change the extension so I would try that first. But obviously you did and we hit the *.elf.iso incident. Do you have viewing file extensions enabled on your PC? That would be the most basic thing I would see to cause that.

      I'll keep searching on that since most places talk about avoiding the ELF files and just using an ISO for some reason.

      Well an image doesn't mount itself. Some program needs to find the image and mount it.
      As for writing the ISO to a USB, that unfortunately doesn't work either.

      Would you mind telling me what manner of homebrew you are running? This pretty much comes down to convincing the homebrew to use your ISOs.
