so this never gets talked about. or at least not here and i mean the people who have provided a voice
a handful Peter Cullen (the one most people know) did g1 and movies and Prime Garry Chalk (the best one) did Beast Wars and Unicron Trilogy Kaye did Animated and various Megatron voices I don't know the others edit: I always thought Chalk did RID as well but apparently not. so there's that guy. inb4 someone calls me on beast wars' prime bring primal.
It's a close tie between David Kaye and Peter Cullen for me. D: But just to nitpick, Peter Cullen sounds a bit more "robotic" (in the good way, if that makes sense .-. ) and has that rasp in his voice that makes his performance more memorable. Also, voice of the old Toonami announcer ftw : D
Peter Cullen. As much as I really like Garry Chalk's performances, Cullen's just got the absolute perfect voice and delivery for Optimus.
This may sound weird to some people because 1, I've never met anyone else with this opinion, and 2, because the exact opposite is often his biggest praise, but I never heard Peter Cullen as the ultimate, heroic, benevolent leader, which Garry Chalk totally had imo. Cullen's voice is just so deep and his deliveries always seemed somewhat... sinister. Like I couldn't trust him or something. And he always sounded very impersonal. Not to say that he's bad or that it doesn't work, but when I think of Prime I don't think of his voice.
Which one was Prime again? Was that the one that was all anime-esque when human characters were onscreen but then went full CGI when it was Transformers?
It saddens me that anyone would vote for anything other than Peter. Even though Beast Wars was awesome. Maybe it's because not enough people have seen this:
I don't know every Transformers series but I do know the ones that aired in the US and I have no idea which one you're talking about. At first I thought you were talking about Animated, which was done in a -- OH you're talking about Cybertron. Or Energon. Both of those used anime for people and cg for robots. Yeah idk why I didn't think of those. They had Garry Chalk.
Eh, that's fine. I just like Prime sounding like Cullen a little more than Chalk. I can't exactly explain why. Still really like both.
THAT'S IT. Yeah, Cybertron is what I was thinking of. I don't think I watched Energon, but I distinctly remember loving Cybertron and now that I remember what it's called I can finally go back and rewatch it!
I've rewatched Cybertron multiple times. I really like it. I have not seen Energon since it first aired because I really disliked it.
