Yeah but, I'm backed by evidence and the face that gay people do not choose to be gay. Also, homophobia is a recognised medical condition again not chosen.

My post was aimed at those that hate gay people because they were told to or because they think it's "disgusting". If they do, they deserve to be treated like dirt =/

 

I treat it how I treat any fetish/sexual preference. Sure, you can have your bondage/scat/****/gay relationship. I won't criticise. However feelings of disgust are brought up by all of these, as is only natural for one without that sexual preference. (Although some obviously more than others.)

 

Finding something evil/wrong is much different from finding it disgusting. There are many fetishes that I find disgusting but I would never ask for them to be banned. It is up to individuals to practice what they wish.

Anyhoo, on this subject, I honestly do not care one way or the other. I like gays; they're like everyone else, but with different preferences, really.

 

Well, I mean, a lot of ladies will say the same thing about the local male population. I don't think he was calling out the filles in general, just stating his observations. In fact, he explicitly said "our...girls," indicating to me that his community has this general attitude.

I gotta be honest, I feel the same way sometimes, though I do my best to fight it and treat everyone equally, but I still feel like there's that undercurrent of obsession with hooking up with the opposite sex sometimes. I feel that I both give off this vibe and receive it, that is. And I live in a very counter-cultural community, so that's saying a lot; we still feel this weight, like it's expected of us to treat each other differently. It's regrettable, but it's there.

Either way, we should all have a right to our interpersonal confusions, same- or opposite-sex notwithstanding. Straight people have no right to deny gays the same social tension they feel every day~

 

We just can't get along now can we. I will say this: I do not hate the gays (resisting epic Dr. Cox reference), but I do not like it. It's much of what P said below. I've also seen this as a fetish, one that does not catch my taste and will not EVER see. I'm probably still going to get a lashing from you because of one thing: I'm a Christian and proud of it. You want people to see life though your eyes; I try to show them my view and leave them alone if they don't like it. As stated in another thread, I see "gay" as a sin, but I have no problem with it.

I have absolutely no problem with gay people. I think what they do is wrong, but I honestly don't think they can help it.
I was molested as a child(kind of), and since that happened I've had sudden urges toward men that have ranged from mild to intense, and I've never felt like I had a choice in that happening within my own mind. Because of my faith, however, I've made the choice to control these urges and have made the conscious decision to never act on them. I believe that most gay people can do the same, but if they aren't religious, why would they? It doesn't make much sense. I guess it's kind of like the fetish analogy.
