    I've always noticed this and wondered, yet never really got what it meant

    What does the + sign mean on the member's name listed on the online list? What does that represent?

    + sign just means they are on your buddy list like the other guys said xD

    The Buddy List was more visible on the old skin, basically it enabled you to see quicker if your friends were online and to be able to access them more easily than having to search through the online users. You can still access this by clicking on "Quick Links" and selecting Buddy List.
