Wouldn't it be possible for two people from other dimensions to meet via Time Travel?

Ok, two people in different timelines go back to the same place at the same point in time before their dimensions branch off. Wouldn't it be possible for them to meet?

 

Huh... honestly, Stargate has distorted, twisted, and destroyed every sense of my knowledge of dimensions and time travel but i dont think it could i mean you could go back in time to where you met all well and good but how do you cross into the other dimension?

wow, not often i get confused. i've never heard of this branching demension thing. if i'm uderstanding you right it could, but i'm having trouble trying to get what you mean. :P

 

Each desicion we make splits off into different dimensions, thus, my comment on "branching off."

 

oh. similar to another thing I've heard of. The one I'm familiar with is that all demensions run parallel to each other, and through them all every possible desicion mix will be made. in this case the answer is no. if your right about the tree concept, then i don't see why not. but the moment the time for that decision comes they will split again, since I'm nearly positive that they would be locked into their own demension.

 

well if u say that the "lines" r brached out like a tree they wont meet
but if they r branched out a different way maybe

 

It sounds like it could work, assuming we can break that whole time-space continuum and achieve some sort of time travel. But yes theoretically it does seem possible for two people to meet in that sense. And assuming that the timeline does break and go off in their own directions.

 

If two people went back & met wouldn't that change the direction of those two branches than from what they previously were?

actually not as much as you might think. their decision to go back in time creates another demension. in this theory not a moment goes by without billions of dimensions springing into existence.

they are all theories, and hypothetical. it's an "if this than this" style question. you don't need proof on the if part. so in reality what we say here most likely doesn't matter at all. just wing it :D

 

Well....wouldn't that be impossible? I mean, if you made the choice to go back in time, wouldn't that alter some kind of existance plane that'd have you be in a completely different spot rather than where you originally planned to go? And if someone else did it, that'd just make thing seven more complicated than before.

Seriously (though I've NO idea where this is coming from), wouldn't the other person (alternate you, ect.) be in a different place? I can see the whole dimensions running parallel and all, but, I doubt that you would both be in that same place (y'know, the whole going back changing a plane and leading to a new spot).

I don't think there is other dimensions, but I do believe that there is a different universe.

the problem with time travel is it al gets very confusing and complicated when you start to think of all the consequences and effects. i always thought that time travel was impossible, as you would 'technically' be creating more matter at that point in time AND matter would be exsiting in the same place at the same time which is also impossible.
then, as has already been said, how going back in time to meet yourself would change everything that happens afterwards creating more alternate realities and possibly changing the one you came from.
also, technically anyone who goes back before now has already it and any changes that theyve made have already been done.
all in all, its there are too many variables and unbreakable laws of physics being broken for this to make sense.

I believe you can meet other people from different dimensions through time travel but it would only be possible if someone from another dimension went back in time as well.
I'm going to explain it through a tree.
If you imagine time like a tree growing you will see a tree that has many branches that are different but if you made time travel possible then we can choose if we want the tree to do two things:
1. Rewind the trees growth to when it was younger and had less branches after this the tree could have more or less branches than before depending on if you effect your choices much.
2. Fast Forword the trees growth to when it has many more branches including the branch that shows your choice in time travel though after doing this you will have created a special branch that if you go back to your original time will break from the tree and never be apart of the tree again

Either way I have probably confused many people :p
