So I am basically a Photoshop noob and heaven forbid I actually got this far.

I am aware that its pretty empty for the moment. I am thinking of doing something between Sam and Quorra to make the end of the Sam render a little less choppy and adding text "Change the World".

So I kind of want to see your opinions and insight.

Its for something I co-mod on tumblr lol.

First, I use GIMP so I'm sorry if some of this doesn't transfer well.

Now, you are correct that this is very plain at the moment but what you want to avoid is crowding it to fill space. The fewer focal points the better. I fully expect you to get criticism for having two characters in there, that is how seriously many users take that. Try getting some texture into the back ground, that will work wonders.

Second, Sam's arm gets chopped where the stock ended. You need to do something to fix that. Hide it behind some effects. Use a transparency gradient to fade it out. If you are really confident in your drawing skills continue his arm yourself (not recommended) Simply don't leave him as an amputee if you can help it.

Similarly to the previous point, the blending between Sam and Quorra is lacking. As it stands it is a bit cut and dry. I'm a bit a noob at this myself so I can't tell you what the best fix would be. I would look into smudging or an overlay effect. Maybe someone else can point you in a better direction.

And just in case the CnC sounds mean, I do actually like the start to this, but it has a little ways to go.

I think it looks really good...yeah it does need some work, and the text you were thinking of adding does sound good.
Maybe try and blend the whole thing in with itself?
By which I mean make everything look like it belongs there.....its great though xD

Having two stocks is pretty much always a no-no in signature making (there are sometimes exceptions, but yeah), but LPs are different--they're much larger, there's more room to work, and more room to be able to make the two of them a focal. When they're placed close together, they become the focal together, as opposed to a signature where they are placed far apart; then they are competing to be the focal. It works here.

I like the overall composition you have going so far; it has a lot of potential for an interesting flow, and I like the way that the renders work together. I don't really see what you're saying about the renders being choppy (though there is that spot at the bottom of Sam's arm that you should just blend a bit), in this case the black + white worked in your favor because it can be forgiving at times.

I do agree with mixt that some texture could go a long way in here, but you know it's a work in progress so it's fine.

Looking forward to seeing what you end up with. =]

First of all, great composition and concept. Usually I hate it when people use two stocks, but since this is a large piece, I'll let it slide.
From the way it looks, it seems you have rendered with your eraser. Try to avoid using that, and use a path tool if you want to cut out and render a stock, that is usually the main tool used by renderers everywhere. There are many tutorials of using the path tool in graphic sites, and probably sure there is one in this graphic section too. There seems to be a black line between Sam and Quorra, which is what mixt must be talking about in his post.

Not a great critic, but I think that'll do.
