Will square make up their minds already?!

I heard rumor like, a year- 2 yrs ago that there was going to be a Final Fantasy VII remake coming out on ps3. So I went and bought a ps3. Then I hear that there's not gonna be a remake, then I hear it's unconfirmed. Then I hear they are. Then i hear that they are wanting to finish a few current projects first. Then I hear that it has to be a unanimous decision from all of the original game creators to agree on remaking it. Then I hear they're remaking it. THEN I HEAR that they will think about it @___@
It's all a massive headache...

Does any1 know for sure if there's gonna be one or not?

 

Don't feel bad. I saw this thing on youtube that had the intro to FFVII revamped for PS3. It was awesome! But now, like you, i can't seem to find a certain answer.

 

it would be good to see it on ps3... but i dont think its going to happen anytime soon.. they're working on 13 right? so they'll be caught up with that

 

They ARE remaking a lot of the old games.. and there is so much demand for a remake for FFVII.. so I personally think they will remake it xD

 

I don't really care about FFVII being remade or not, but if they do plan on remaking it I hope that they'll prioritize other, new games before starting with this one.

Crisis Core was good, Before Crisis was cell phone only (bad move), Advent Children had awesome action scenes but a terrible storyline and Dirge of Cerberus was just all-around bad. Not that good of a compilation if you ask me.

How useful would a remake be? Better graphics, fully-voiced cutscenes and probably some extras. New games sparkle more enthusiasm in me than that at least. Furthermore I think Square should stop milking FFVII already.

 

They are making it. It has been confirmed.

 

You're stupid if you bought such an expensive system to play only one game if that game was a rumor and not even out at the time. 1. you could have waited for a price drop 2. you should wait for confermation about the game and not buy because of a rumor and 3. Be patient

Anyway, I think a remake would sell big. Mail Jeevas is correct. They are going to remake it. The pushed back production because of the epicness of FFXIII.

First off. That wasn't blunt, that was abrasive. Secondly, This is not the place to post your personal feelings about other people or me. The topic is about the FF-VII remake, not how sensitive I am. I mean no disrespect, and likewise, I will tolerate no disrespect! End of story.

Final Fantasy VII was never stated to be given a remake in any facet whatsoever. Square Enix created a tech demo for the PS3 in order to show the capabilities of the system, a tech demo is a rendered scene that's meant to demonstrate somethings capabilities in a flashy fashion to get people excited for the system. So, Square-Enix chose to recreate the beginning scene of FFVII using the PS3's capabilities as a way to show how powerful the system was, but in no way was it any sort of announcement that a remake was in production, the entire video was simply for demonstration purposes

Square Enix did the exact same thing with the launch of the Playstation 2, where they remade a significant scene from Final Fantasy 8 using the PS2's capabilities to demonstrate what the system was capable, but no Final Fantasy 8 remake was ever made, because it was simply a tech demo.

Square Enix also did the exact same thing for the N64 back when the system launched, they recreated a battle from Final Fantasy 6 using the N64's capabilities to demonstrate what the system was capable of rendering, but no Final Fantasy 6 remake was ever made, nor did Final Fantasy 7 end up being on the N64 as it was assumed to based on Square Enix's willingness to make the demo for the system. Why? Because it was simply a tech demo.

The entire FF7 remake rumor is a completely baseless one, it's a fan dream that got spread around as if it were announced or confirmed, when at no point has Square Enix ever said that they were planning on making the game.

A FF7 remake is entirely possible, Square has stated that they want to keep the FF7 compilation going for another 10 years, so I'm not suggesting that a FF7 remake won't ever happen, what I want to refute is the thought that the game wa already announced to be in production, or that the PS3 tech demo is some sort of confirmation of it's existence.

 

Well, I saw the Crisis Core ending, so I assumed that there is gonna be a remake, but >.>
I keep looking it up every 2 months, and I never hear a definate answer.

He is wrong, it was never confirmed.

And also, like someone said previously, it's pretty dumb to go out and buy an expensive electronic based on rumors and speculation.

 

It hasn't been confirmed absolutely but I've seen articles that declare it has a high chance of happening so I'm not discounting it yet. If it did happen it would have to be after FF XIII though, I'm surmising.

And no one has to tell someone else they are 'stupid' for buying a game console for one game. A lot of people go out and buy a console to have a specific game because that game draws them but then they find other games. How many people here actually have to go buy a new handheld console for one game because of what Nomura did with KH? A ton of people bought Xboxs for Halo 3. Also, I bought a Wii for a few game titles only but I let friends bum it because I don't care for most of the games. I don't feel it was a waste of money despite the fact I only have three games so far I even like on it. People spend money how they will and you find uses for the stuff. It's not 'blunt' to say someone's stupid for buying a console for one game. It's rude and pointless.

I am going to move this to the Square Enix section in the Game Chat area as it more belongs there.

 

I hope they don't, i'm sick of the damn FFVII fanboy train that square have seen riding past them and gave them the idea to milk that one story for all it's damn worth, FFVII was a good game, it didn't need a movie, a prequel, and a sequel.

I'd rather they did a remake of FF9, it was better IMO.
