Why is everyone streaming?

It seems 1/10 people are trying talking about streaming. Is it suddenly profitable for the average user to spend money adding a voice over to things?

Do they get some kind of bonus in society? Do you show a ring to cops to get out of tickets? Is streaming a secret code for the Masons now?

I've tried streaming, and though I don't think I'm really cut out for it, it's cost me nothing extra at all streaming games on my PC (consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One can also do it for no extra cost.) The most enticing thing to me about streaming is playing a game while pretty much chatting with a bunch of people at the same time. This should be the purpose for people to stream, not profit or anything that strengthens profit (like having a billion viewers or something.) Just having a group of 20+ interested and talkative viewers sounds pretty nice to have.

It's all a desperate attempt to get my dad to finally love me.

    I knew it.

The only streaming project I took real interest in was a Fire Emblem Co-operative run where each person controlled two characters in a draft. It didn't get far because the people involved had lives but it was fun.

Harder to get invested in someone else playing a game by themselves.

I don't understand why people film themselves playing a game. I just don't see the appeal of watching someone else's face watch a screen.

It's fun, at least for myself and some of my friends, to sit with a friend and watch his/her experience as he/she plays something that I myself am (or whomever the audience is) interested in, and it's usually the first time that the person is playing that game. Like, if I found a certain part of a game really thrilling, it's a somewhat unexplainable joy to see the same thrill in someone else. If that makes sense? Streaming is the next best thing to that with someone you aren't in the same area as.

I stream just because. People can see how bad at games I am and I can chat with them while they watch it.
I've also completed more of my backlog of games by doing it, it's kind of addicting...

Are you really trying to make sense of people who treat video games like TV shows?

I don't see why anyone would try to make sense of Microsoft

I'm not sure why small rivers are suddenly so popular but I never could keep up with the new fads.

I record my lets plays. I just usually decide to stream as well so people can watch if they want to. Sort of like a sneak peek for people who don't want to wait for the youtube version?

Also it's fun reading the chat reactions.

At this point, the ability to stream on a Mac feels like fighting a losing battle. So it's more for the feeling of triumph at this point.

Busa got it right- it's easy, it's a feature of these new $400 consoles, and it's a controlled social experience.

I don't mind streaming any of my steam games or mmos, though I doubt anyone would be interested in seeing how bad I am at games.

Sometimes seeing people fail is half the fun though.

Someone told me that I should stream because me being a female would give me views. So I don't stream, because I think that is a terrible way to get views or some ****. I stream when I need to show someone something and they do not have the same console as me. Plus the PS4 has a pretty cool streaming feature.

    more than half really
there's an actual statistic somewhere but I can't find it
basically, people care most about people who suck (but not TOO bad (unless they're REALLY bad)) or people who are very skilled or speedrunners
