[We need more threads, Spam Zone, so I am posting about my life. >:L] Once upon a time, I began the 10th grade. The previous year I had only joined one club, and while I was sticking with that club, I decided it would be a good idea to join others to look good for college. Even though I'm probably going to community college. So I asked my friends what they were joining, and my friend ... said to me "Hey ..., join book club with me!" (Yes, we have the same name. c: ) I didn't really want to too much I eventually succumbed to peer pressure did. I went to the first meeting, and there were about 6 members, including me & my friend. Plus the librarian. We started our first book and it was all fine. I went to the next meeting and that was fine too, but we were missing a few people so it got a little awkward, just being me and two other people (plus the librarian, who shall remain nameless for later reasons). The year goes on in this fashion, and it eventually just turns into me, this one other girl, and the librarian in the club. We all feel too awkward to talk so we mostly just sit quietly and pretend we don't remember the book. I get sick of this and stop going to the meetings. Thinking everything was fine, I went about my life. Then one day I was exiting Spanish class and the librarian jumped me. She was like "..., you haven't been coming to my meetings blah blah blah stop by sometime and I'll give you the new book." I had to get to class and I was mildly creeped out by her stalking, so I was intending to go back during my free period and tell her that I was quitting. But I forgot. So the next day I was running to my locker during maths to get my calculator, and she was standing in the hallways. I tried to dodge her but she spotted me. She was all like "..., there you are, come to the library!" I was like no no, I have a math test now and I really have to go. So she let me. Later, I returned to the library and tried to quit, but she guilted me into reading the next book. So I tried, and one of the sentences in it was "bashful as ponies." So I swore off the book club forever. She continued to stalk me during and after classes, got in contact with one of my teachers to corner me, but gave up after a few months. I have been afraid to enter the library ever since, and I am kind of terrified that she is going to force me to join when I go back to school this year. tl;dr version: I was stalked by a librarian.
I remember one time I actually read a book for the school's book club. It was "Generation Dead", a book about zombie teenagers going to high school. Yeah... The librarian was super nice and helped sponcer our school's anime club, so I thought it wouldn't be all bad. Turns out there were three or four other girls (including my ex who I was akward around at the time) to talk about some C-grade zombie/human romance novel that reminded me so much about Twilight. To make it worse, the girsl even started talking about Twilight. At least I had my anime and manga to read. Moral of the story: Beware of the Pirate Robot Nazis who are also Zombies.
Well, I made the one at my school. I feel like such a nerd now. It'll pop up one day, trust me. When you least expect it. The worst part is that it'll never go away. Book clubs are like herpies.
wow.. lol that's sooo strange. i have a friend that his friends spread word that he was a child molester and he got banned from day care centers and public schools in his area XD
Our books were terrible! The first one we read was a Lovely Bones rip off, the girl gets into a car crash and has to choose if she wants to live or not. One was also a Lovely Bones rip off about a kid who died... and I don't remember what else. One was one of those that is written in like ****ing haikus for like 400 pages, that was horrible. I was supposed to read The Blind Side too but I didn't.
I think The Blind Side is suppose to be a good book, but I haven't gotten around to it. Non-fiction isn't my cup of tea most of the time, as is historical fiction. But that must stink, having to read all of those rip offs. That's why I enjoy reading obsqure books, like the Suzumiya series.
I couldn't take it, the writing was very poor imo. It was just very uninteresting. Non-fiction bores me too, we need some unicorns or wizards or something flying in there.
