Kingdom Hearts Who Opened The Door?

I don't remember, haven't played the games in ages, but who / what opened the door to darkness on destiny islands and why?
I always thought it was Riku but not sure.

 

Yeah, it was Riku, but he only did it so that he could go to other worlds, he didn't want them to be destroyed.

He didn't get taken over by Ansem for awhile. I think it was right after he took the Keyblade from SOra?

 

i think it was Riku. because remember after completing Monstro, there is a short scene of Sora and Riku when they were younger. it revealed that Riku was able to see the Keyhole that was found on that door. also, in Chain of Memories, Zexion said that Riku destroyed Destiny Islands.

 

You don't find out exactly when he gets taken over by Xehanort's heartlless, but I believe it's sometime after he takes the keyblade from Sora.

 

I thought it was Xemnas.

 

It was Riku. Zexion said that Riku's desire to leave the islands was so strong, it opened the door.

 

Riku wanted to leave, but there was also the creepy guy in the tree hollow when Sora was carving his picture (Ansem). I thought it was Ansem who opened the door, but Riku's wanting to leave that called him, along with Sora's potential as a Keyblade bearer, though no one knew it yet, and Kairi as a Princess of Heart. The pull of those three would be pretty strong anyway.

Xehanort's heartless tells you before you fight him and Zexion reminds Riku about it in reverse/rebirth.
