Who has FFXIV: A Realm Reborn?

I'm interested to know who I might be able to play with when I buy the game. It'd be fun to play with some guys on here if possible.

 

I play it! Haven't logged in in a while (FFX is distracting) but once the PS4 version releases I will be playing much more

 

I played it, but have been distracted by all the recent JRPGs. I intend to go back to it soon-ish though.

 

Yeah, I thought I remembered you streaming the beta or something.

Maybe some day when we all the get the chance (and I have the game), everyone who has the game should play together. Of course, I still have Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of Vesperia, and FFXIII-2 to play, but I seem to have problems finishing games lately. Maybe just because I don't want to finish a game so I have one less game I haven't beat

I play on Midgardsormr. Mostly maining Marauder/Gladiator and dabbling with Lancer.

 

I do but I stopped paying for my subscription a while ago >_> 1) because I switched psn's to a brand new one (because I hated my psn name at the time; Soul-l-eater don't ask why) 2) because I had already gained level 50 with classes and leveled the main job I wanted and I stopped playing as often but I'll probably create another account when I finish up college for summer and replay FFXIV since they probably added more stuff now

 

Anyone know how well the the archers play in the game as well? I like to try archers, but they're always annoying to play in most games.

 

Archer in this game mostly hangs back and uses their abilities to do as much damage as fast as possible overtime. Hence why they're a DPS class. I like it.

 

EEEEE...pick a role that contributes to getting a job look it up first; archers become Bard or black mage I believe depending on what else you level up but if you don't care about that.

Archers obviously being long ranged do little damage they're redundant half of the time unless you level up a role that has healing abillities e.g alongside them so you can transfer abilities such as heal of course. but other than that they're just eh. because most people went for lancer and archer at the begining it's hard for archers and lancers to get into dungeons with other people because a dungeon consists of people a berserker who goes all out attacking, healer who heals, then there's back up like archer and lancer and then there's marauders who do heavy damage. you always need one of each to get into a dungeon and a team can have a max of four no more no less. so you'll be waiting a while to get into a dungeon if you're new and chose archer as your first choice.

 

Is there any big difference between the Disciple of War, Magic, Land, and Hand? Also, are the Monks any good? Or dragoons? Those are who I wouldn't mind using, but if there's either a giant amount of them, or they're just not too good, it's good to know beforehand.

The nice thing about FFXIV is that once you level your first class to 10, you can learn all the other jobs and switch between them quickly. The jobs are classified under Disciples of War (mainly combat classes), Magic (self-explanatory), Hand (crafting), and Land (gathering). Pick whatever job appeals to you at first and then you can always switch out. I've accumulated at least a few levels in a bunch of jobs (archer, weaver, botanist, pugilist, leatherworker, and conjuror). It keeps the game fresh! If I'm not feeling taking down monsters one day I can make myself some clothes or chop down some trees.

I'm mainly an archer, I started out as one because I like the DPS designation. If you're new to MMOs (which I was when I started FFXIV! I'm still learning) your primary role is to damage from a distance. You won't have as powerful attacks as, say, a Gladiator, but your role is still important. Most DPS classes also take on secondary abilities, like when you become a Bard (the natural evolution for archers) you'll be able to play songs that can increase your party's MP or something. Just go with your gut and try everything!

Also we wanted to create a KHV free company (FFXIV version of guilds), so if we get enough KHV people playing we can revive that. The plans were to do it on Ultros, so if you're just starting out, try to get on that server!

 

SO you have a character on Ultros as well? And trust me, I'm not new to MMOs, since it's practically the only kind of game I play on my computer. And I usually keep away from mage classes, since I have me some bad luck with running low on MP WAAAAY too fast. Kind of why I like the mage on Guild Wars 2, since they don't use MP.

I'll get the mythical X1 copy when it fictionally releases to the world of Imaginationland.

Maybe if that extra Destiny content is worth it.... Maybe.... Or if the rumors of the Last of Us releasing on PS4. THEEEEEN I'll grab FFXIV and happily pa ya sub fee.
