What Really Grind's Your Gears?

What is that one pet peave you have that irritates you the most out of anything in the world?

Mine is when people take their babies (I mean like between the ages of 1-4) into a theater and don't take them outside when they begin to cry furiously.

 

Unnecessary apostrophes.

 

The sound of children crying/moaning on any form of public transport ... I mean, I know theyre young and can't help it/don't know better ... but it hurts my ears really badly ... and especially when one of them starts and it sets them off like a chain of dominos.

 

I read that as "Chain of doritos"

 

When people use their phones in movie theaters. C'mon people! We're in the day and age where we know better than to do that. If your phone call or text messages were really that important, why the hell did you pay $20-$30 (ticket and snacks) to completely miss something. Not only that, it distracts EVERYBODY in the damn theater. At least some of the theaters now have ushers who will kick out people for using their phones.

 

I must apologize. They sneak in when I'm typing all the time. Some part of my brain seems to think that any word that end in an "s" needs one.

 

kony2012. it's a scam. and all misinformed movements. people are too quick to jump on the next bandwagon without having all the facts.

 

Specifically Kony 2012 or invisible Children in general. I ask because they're basically the same thing, Kony 2012 is a movement by Invisible CHildren, but everyone attacks that particular movement because it was the most recent and the first one that really exploded online. I mean ... the group's been active for about ten years now ... so I'm just curious why people are attacking them now when they never did before ....

 

more that people are suckers. and these sorts of movements take advantage of suckers.

 

This falls under something that bugs me a LOT: When people just cannot stop texting, at all, ever. I hate it when people are in the middle of class, at a school assembly, somewhere I invited them or they invited me to go to, etc. and they won't put their phone down for a few damn seconds. Seriously? I'm pretty sure most people would live if they weren't looking at their phone constantly for an hour, so what on earth is so important that someone has to be completely rude and ignore everything else in favor of an inanimate object? I understand emergencies come up, and if someone explained they were waiting for an important message it would be fine by me... But it's never important, or so it seems. |: On top of that, people also do it a lot while driving which I believe (correct me if I am wrong) has been shown statistically to be more dangerous than driving drunk. Texting in itself is certainly a quick and easy way of communication and I do appreciate it for that, but when doing so is an inconvenience or even a danger to others I really think a line should be drawn. Idk.

 

I chuckled inwardly at that.

I shall not say the more intense dislikes for fear of having them exploited, but I truly hate it when people make any sort of noise in a theater. The most infuriating case of this is laughter. Laughing during the first full showing of a German expressionist silent film since its release eighty years ago is likely to land you into the deepest circle of hell in my book. You could probably hear my teeth grinding several rows away.

 

Yes, grind is my gears. What makes you so surprised?

I think getting stuck behind an extremely slow driver would have to be mine. >.< " drives " me crazy

This so much. When you're with someone and they spend half the time talking to someone else is the rudest thing ever. It's like they're just far more interested in someone elses company and it leaves you standing there like a lemon.

Now I don't know if this counts as a pet peeve because I've only ever seen one person do this, but I used to know someone who would clean their phone by spitting on their fingers and rubbing it all over the screen. I remember one time I had to borrow it, I wanted to throw up. Spitting in general. And smoking at bus stops. COME ON PEOPLE IT'S ILLEGAL. And then the people who smoke when they have little babies and children,I just want to grab the cigarette and chuck it away. /rant

Oh and people who noisily grind their teeth in theaters :P

 

Yes, people who find a movie funny should go STRAIGHT TO HELL! Those *******s, laughing at nazies.

 

People who feel the need to force their opinions down your throat. Mostly it bothers me with religion and sexuality:

Here's the thing, I don't care how many times someone says I'm going to go to hell, I'm not going to suddenly believe in God or suddenly approve of Christianity. They're not going to "convert" me, or "change" me. Their opinion is nowhere near proven or superior to anyone else's, and they're just wasting their own time.

It really bothers me how certain people feel like need to convey their sexuality in the most obnoxious way possible. (Ex: Gay people who wave around the rainbow flag and shove their gayness in your face constantly. Like let me ask you how being gay affects the highness of your vocal cords? And straight people who talk about "banging *****es". Like someone needs to tell some of the male population that disrespecting women WON'T get them a girl. I don't think they got the memo. ) It's like it takes over certain people's personalities. I don't care what the hell you do in the privacy of your own home, but when you start being obnoxious it's a problem. It shouldn't concern me if you like penis or vagina. They're not being themselves, they're going with society's expectations of how they should behave. It's become a stigma. It bothers me so much. No one cares about your personal life. Love is love no matter what, but this is not a question of personal preference. This is just annoying people who feel the need to shove their sexuality in your face as if it's something to be proud of. You're not a "special snowflake" for your sexual preference, you're just a person like everyone else. Your interests shouldn't revolve around what you like in the pants.
