Don't equip any version of the Cure spells. Vanitas can cure himself too if you use it. Have "restore guard" and probably a slot or two reserved for Elixers and Mega-Potions. As for the rest of your deck, Mine Squares should do a good job from what I've been told.

I beat him on like level 49 (or around there); mainly because I fought him on standard, but if you're playing on Proud/Critical about...30ish

but since you've past 52 I suggest tons on leveling up then... since I used aqua I used magic mostly with her attacks

I beat him on level 56 with Terra on hard mode. Advice: Lots of hi potions! You can heal yourself without him doing the same. Also I used mines. They stopped him halfway through his combos and left him open to normal physical attacks

I didn' t like the mine strategy suggested on youtube at all, I kept throwing the wrong command at the wrong time and Vanitas didn' t even walk on the damn mines.

So here' s what I did : I filled my deck with Megalixirs : they cure you and cancel Blind/Confuse. Curagas aren' t a good idea since everytime you use one Vanitas uses a potion.
Equip the Heal Strike limit break, it will hurt Vanitas while healing you in the process.
Equip the Keyblade which boosts your strength the most and try to land combos on Vanitas.

As soon as the fight begins run towards him and mash the X button. If your combo connects he' ll teleport himself on top of you before you have the time to finish it. When he does DON' T try to block. Don' t heal yourself either. Keep pushing the X button to land one or two hits first, this will stun him and let you throw a Megalixir AND start hitting him again, giving you a good chance to throw a Heal Strike in the end. Rince and repeat.

I beat him using using 3 Megalixirs and three Heal Strike with Lv 99 Terra on Critical Mode. Being Lv99 helps a lot on Critical since it' s the only way to be able to endure 2 or 3 hits without healing (some of Vanitas moves will still deplete your health in one hit though). Ven and Aqua aren' t as strong as Terra so the fight was a little longer.

Using that strategy it took me less than half an hour with each character to beat him.

From a math standpoint lower potions heal the more per command slot, but many people find that using one that is too low doesn't heal enough per item. So use the weakest item that you feel comfortable using. I know some people who liked using faith and salvation with ven, I never got it to work personally but it is another way to heal with an attack.

And I've heard there is an AI exploit where you can get him stuck behind a rock and raid him to death if you want to be cheep about it.
