Moved to Anime. Anyway. ...Am I supposed to answer this? DDDDD: I'll give one of my traditional vague answers. InuYasha: PROS Very few fillers, and when there were fillers they had to do with the InuKag relationship. Excellent character development. Example: InuYasha moving from a stubborn ass to a trusting and protective person to his group of friends; Kagome dealing with two lives; InuKagKik triangle. The movies were great and made sense in the episode plot/timeline. DOG EARS. CONS As much as I obsess over it, there are some flaws. Yeah, the episodes are a little repetitive, but most of it is canonical to the manga. TETSUSAIGA =/= TESSAIGA. The InuKagKik triangle was a big part of the series, but Kikyou was OVERLY annoying. Half the stuff she said made no sense and no one really cares about her anyway. Events in the movies were rarely discussed; there was one allusion to the second one (Castle Beyond the Looking Glass): Shippou and Akitoki were talking and Shippou declared Akitoki his vassal and this comes up again in a later episode. HOWEVER. At the mention of that event, there is no reaction from InuYasha or Kagome about the things that occured between them during the movie. Rurouni Kenshin: PROS The episodes that weren't fillers were canonical; there was almost no deviation from some of the dialouge. The emotion of Kenshin leaving Kaoru was magnified when animated; I cried when I read the manga (...>_>), but when I watched it I was like...an emotional wreck. ^^;; "Oro?" CONS Fillersfillersfillersfillersfillers. Second season was all fillers. A few minor annoying plot differences (the brothers in the beginning, but that was pretty much it). Some arcs took far too long to end. MOVIES. Omfg, totally uncanonical. ;_; OVERALL. Both were ended before the manga ended; InuYasha because it was caught up with the manga and Kenshin because of all the fillers. Both are similar in the romantic comedy genre. Both have great female leads that aren't damsels in distress but do need occasional rescuing by their love interest. I love both series; so I honestly can't choose. xD They both have good and bad things about them. >_> ALSO! For those of you that haven't read Rurouni Kenshin, READ IT. It's amazing. 8D
Ruroni Kenshin, inuyasha just seemed to go on forever i mean it has less fillers then kenshin but i just sorta lost intrest in it but overall both are good anime
Please stop bumping threads from last year. :/ Threads from 2009 are alright, but please refrain from posting in threads from 2008.
Okay, Ruroni Kenshin was one of my all-time favorites back in the day. Inuyasha...huge sword! Windscar! Demon Dead! Jewel Shard! F*ck that. Both are action anime, they always have the downsides of action. Action: In examples such as bleach each arc's enemy is always stronger and more unreasonable than the last. It goes until it's just a god-fight. Love interests' relationships either don't get fully developed or get to much fanservice so that it's completely obvious. Whatever fits your interests. Go with some Moe stuff. Try Kyoto Animation's anime for all your moe needs.
I think Rurouni Kenshin was better. It's action was better, the characters were better, and more realistic. Inuyasha I like too, but the fact that after the first few episodes things get repetitive, kills it. At first it had actual struggles in the action, after that Inuyasha is the only fighter and the rest become burdens. As for the damsel in distress...Kagome goes a bit on that end farther. Not at first, but then she barely picks up a bow to do squat. At least Kaoru was actually more of a fighter and could stand up to the baddies. Kagome could, but for some reason she doesn't.
Rurouni Kenshin, and it's prequel Samurai X, are vastly superior anime to the filler-fest that is Inuyasha. I'm so sick of the whole feudal Japan shit that is pumped through the veins of anime that it's refreshing to see it done right. Kenshin is well paced, fun to watch, and in many cases epic, while all I see in Inuyasha is bland animation to a boringly predictable story and cliched forced romance. I don't really care for the manga if the anime is this boring. Though I must say the animation in the movies is quite excellent, but that's all I'll give Inuyasha.
I've seen the entire Inuyasha series, watched a lot (but not all) of Rorouni Kenshin, read some of the volumes of each manga. So I will say that I like Inuyasha better overall, but Rorouni Kenshin does have some aspects that are better. For example, Kaoru is SOOOOO less annoying than Kagome. You'll hear Kagome screaming "INUYASHAAA!!!!" at least 10 times in one episode. Her voice is like a garden rake on a chalkboard to my ears now. I don't know, I think I just find Inuyasha more interesting. Plus it was the anime that got me into anime.
