What happens when you put someone on your ignore list?

I was curious, because whenever I check my profile I look at it and ponder.

 

I believe you can't see their post and you can't recieve PMs from them.

 

You don't see their posts or threads.

 

Oh, is that good and bad in a lot of ways?
