    I'm not sure.

Once again, it's one of mine, and my friend Brittany, debates.

I think, that it could be any, but, the egg needs warmth from the chicken, but, a chicken is born in the egg.

So, I have no idea, what do you guys think??

I think the Chicken. Because how can an Egg hatch without another Chicken covering it from harm?

If you mean "egg" as a method of delivering young, then the egg most definitely came first. If you mean the egg which contained the very first modern day chicken that we would recognise as a chicken, it would still be the egg.

    The Chicken.

Without it, there wouldn't be a egg. It's common knowledge.

    Both.
The egg could come first because it hatches the chicken, but the chicken could also come first cos it had to have laid the egg.

What came first? The human or the embryo?

Whatever evolved into the chicken came first.

hmmm I say the chicken, I mean sure it comes from an egg, but how can it come from an egg without a chicken to hatch it less along create the egg. makes seance if you put it that .

I agree; The eggy needs incubation in order to hatch.

    ^^This^^

Something evolved into a chicken, the chicken laid an egg, and the egg hatched into a modern day chicken

Rather, random mutation created our modern chicken as an offspring of whatever came before it (something very similar to, but not quite, a chicken), and this first modern chicken came from something elses egg. However, this modern chicken also had to pass on it's adaptations, so it may have taken a while for another egg to be born and now I'm just rambling and will shut up now.

Wow, I like did this thread a long time ago.
The answer lies within the question.
The chicken couldn't come first because it was an egg when it was born.
And all eggs need to come from a mother, so maybe the mother was an ancestor of the chicken, and finally an egg was hatched that had the new species the chicken.
The answer is simple; atoms came before all life forms. :p

    Close, but NO!
Dinosaurs were not the first living life forms.

I think neither, the chicken probably evolved from some sort of prehistoric creature, hence it hatched from one of those eggs someday.

This and everyone who disagrees is a dumbass. :) I'm sorry but you really are.

Suppose I have a reptile egg.
One mutation in its genome leads it to being 1% chicken.
This creature is still hatched from an egg.
A couple of other mutations occur: the resulting creature is 25% chicken but is still nurtured in what you would call an egg before its birth.
And thus the mutations along the avian evolution line continue. Right until you have a 99,999999% chicken. Sooner rather than later, the creature known as "chicken" would evolve from this precursor. This precur would still have to hatch from an egg (the type of egg is not specified so this argument does stand).

I am loaded right now so I must apologize if I didn't make sense. However feel free to refute it, I will gladly prove you wrong once I'm sober. :)
