Oh yeah huge floods. I heard about them while on holiday.

Our area isn't being affected, but North and West England are badly hit. They say that if it gets worst London will get flooded also.

Just let me say, i'm glad my town is uphill. XD

I doubt where I live will be flooded.... The water would have to get past the ocean first...

I think that these floods (and we are expected to have the same situations for the rest of the summer) have highlighted just how poor our government is in dealing with these types of situations. The rail lines all but stopped completely, motor ways and roads were covered in standing water or were blocked/closed. *sigh* and some places have no available drinking water or electricity.

Yet the governement continue to approve buiding on known flood plains. This situation has highlighted the need to work on our current drainage systems and Flood Risk preparations, (The City nearest to me couldn't put its flood barriers up because they were stuck in traffic O_o you would have thought they would keep them in at least the same City).

For sure we now have to keep green belt land, but building on flood plains is about short term greed over long term lasting. So my opinion of these floods?

It's the wake up call that was needed, (though whether it will sink in is another matter entirely -_-)

    ~All IMO~

Damn good race though wasn't it ^^ *is major F1 fan* :)

Easy enough to say though isn't it and especially near the start of his dicta...I mean term he has to say something to spin it in a positive light for him ^^ not only that but what about the people who's flights, journeys etc got delayed? He can't compensate for that in reality.

I'm in the southeastern US, so obviously I have a drought...but ouch, that's horrible. I feel sorry for all the people who don't have water or electricity. Are they doing anything to help them out?

And what exactly caused the floods, anyway? Was it all from rain?

But it's quite horrible, some people can't even get clean drinking water :/

I think some people are having water supplied for them (bottled water) , I wonder which is worse? Flood or drought?

I think it was all just from rain yes, a scarily huge amount of rain. The Rivers near me rose and burst in like hours. Very quickly.

Luckily my area has water and electricity still, though we did almost get cut off from everywhere O_o

Oh, I'm glad you're okay! And at least those people are getting water from somewhere!

And I'd have to say that floods are worse, since you get massive property damage. I can deal with a few less plants and stuff. *shrug*

...That's a lot of rain...unless the rivers are naturally high.

    Thanks ^^

Looking at it that way I can see that yes floods are worse O_o I hadn't really thought about it.

well put it this way one of our rivers is normally upto my ankles, after all the rain it was high enough to cover way above me (I am just under 6ft)
