Has anyone considered that maybe MX had been the one possessing Riku all along as well? It could be the reason for why Xehanort's Heartless, and the original Master Xehanort mirror that of the original's.

My theory is that Master Xehanort- whatever his goals were had a chance of being undermined by the Key blade Master trio. Because of this, he tries to turn them all against one another through manipulative tactics.

Maybe it was him who tried to convince he needed to be erased.

And it's obvious he's trying to possess Terra. That eliminates two threats he would have to deal with.

Assuming he succeeded in possessing Terra, he could've easily erased his mind, or locked away any say that he had in his actions. Because of this, Terra, knowing himself only as Xehonart, but otherwise Personified and controlled by Master Xehanort. Proceeded to take apprenticeship under Ansem the Wise, and continued his schemes using master Ansem's resources while wearing Terra's face. Another theory is that which mirrors Riku, who was in full control of his actions, however was losing control slowly to a dormant darkness we know as Xehanort's heartless. Through manipulative tactics, quite possibly the same tactics he used to manipulate Terra, he could've also manipulated Ansem the Wise's fellow students into following his cause.

Maybe becoming a God-Like figure was his goal, and maybe the Dark Soldier was his original test subject, The Apprentice was powerful, and were it a sort of Heartless, then could arguably be classified as one of the most powerful heartlesses to exist yet. Another plausible experiment would be to test his Ultimate Weapon against the very key blade masters capable of such enormous potential themselves. A side thought, but a valid one I would hope. Anyways I stray away from my basic point.

We can assume that Xehanort completed his research to create the ultimate being, or what he considered the heartless to be- one of freewill, one that would succeed the original Dark Soldier. Deciding to use Terra's body as a catalyst to become this 'god' of sorts. It's fair to assume that Terra's heart was strong, strong enough to allow the birth of a Nobody.

With that, we have the birth of Xemnas, whom would represent the Nobody of Xehanort, or if the theory is true- the Nobody of Terra.

But now we have a bit of a dillemma, if Xehanort was already possessing Terra, then what happens to Terra? If Xehanort had taken complete control over Terra, then technically Terra would have no say in what's taking place. However he still exists, he's sleeping within his own mind which if you've been paying attention- was possessed by Xehanort. For reason's I'll explain further onward, I'll assume that Terra's dormant memories were transferred to Xemnas.

When Heartless Ansem and Xemnas were born, Since they would no doubt both be seeking similar resolve- to control everything, however through differant tactics. Both seek Kingdom Hearts and it's power-

This part is completely speculative of course (not that any of this isn't) but maybe Ansem and Xemnas duked it out in order to erase the other's existence so there would be no-one to interfere with their ultimate goals. (Yeah crazy, but think about it.. slowly..)

If you consider that Heartless Ansem may have been defeated by the more powerful Nobody form, then it would give reason for Heartless Ansem to need to recover his strength by latching on to a new entity.

That entity is none other than Riku. Whom he slowly possessed over time right up the the end of the first game in the series. All things considered, this means that Xehanort from the original birth by Sleep, and the heartless that possess Riku are one in the same entity. The reason they share the same outfit is because they are the same person, only with a different face. Likewise, this means both Terra and Riku were the catalyst swept into the dark by Xehanort's manipulative tactics.

Xemnas' goals are in question on several different occasions, however it's stated in 358/2 days by Xion and through the ending of Kingdom Hearts II that what Xemnas truly desired is to be a God-like entity and to shape the universe in his own image, Chances are Xehanort's heartless also desired this same end, and by Controlling the forces of heartless and nobodies, they could do just that.

On the concept of betrayal, and because there are several instances where Xemnas made clear references of familiarity with Aqua (the scene where Xemnas visits the room of awakening) and when he taps Roxas on the soldier much like he did Ventus in BBS. Something tells me that like Riku sort of betrayed Sora and Kairi, Terra made the same mistake regarding Ventus and Aqua. But why does Xemnas show it if he's such a stone cold guy who wants to rule everything?

Remember how I said Terra's memories were transferred to Xemnas? That's because while Xemnas' personality and goals are that of Xehanort, his memories that had been sealed away by Xehanort are resurfacing.

If you recall his desire to find the Room of Awakening in the Castle Oblivion, and how he wished to experiment with memories, you could say that Xemnas felt the need to do so to discover if there was a secret he had hidden from himself. That secret is his true existence. Between his contact with Roxas, whom would look like his best friend, and the existence of Aqua's armor that resides deep within the basements of Hollow Bastion. One could infer that he was familiar Roxas(Ventus) and Aqua (Armor), however being a Nobody he had none of those emotional attachments and found any pursuit of the past pointless.

Xemnas believes Anger and Hatred are the strongest qualities of the heart, and after the battle with the Lingering Sentiment (Yeah I can link that to this as well) you can assume these emotions and memories of Terra are what cause Xemnas to believe this as truth.

As for the Lingering Sentiment? It's the representation of Terra's memories. I know Nomura said the battle wasn't Canon, so I guess this theory is debunked before it began, however the location is set within the castle of the king, and the Lingering Sentiment dwells on the feelings and scenarios of how he had failed to stop Xehanort the first time.

ANOTHER THEORY I JUST THOUGHT OF:

This one would re-write part or most of the section regarding Xemnas and Ansem's creation.

The Lingering Sentiment was confused by the fact that Sora had been wielding the Key blade originally meant for Riku. If Terra had indeed chosen Riku to be the new keyblade wielder. That would explain why Neither Xemnas, nor Xehanort's Heartless could wield a key blade. Because the Lingering Sentiment, representing the last of Terra's subconcious, passed this ultimate power on to someone else before vanishing with the creation of Xemnas and Xehonart's Heartless. This would prevent Xehanort from having three of the most powerful forces recognizable in the KH universe. The Heartless, the Nobodies, and the Keyblade. Granted, Master Xehanort had a keyblade, and so did Riku when he was possessed. However the second keyblade was fake, which means Xehanort had the ability to create fake Keyblades... What if his and the Dark Soldier's keyblades in the original BBS movie were also fake??

If this is the case then Xehanort could've banished what was left of Terra's subconcious to the depths of Nothingness, where the Lingering Sentiment had from there on resides.

woo that's enough brain scratching for one day. I'm gonna go sleep now!
