Just watched Death Note 37. Light's dead and Near was right. That ended quite happily.

Manga ending was much more satisfying. Anime ended on the most homosexual note ever.

About Light being Kira. I mean, we knew that, but none of the characters did.

Only if you don't refer to Light as the protagonist.

It ended suckish. Would've been alot more satisfying if Light were killed by the guy's gunshots, instead of by Ryuk writing Heartattack in the Death Note.
Or even by a different, more humiliating way of dying.

I liked Light, and to be honest, the ending wasn't satisfying. Light was destroyed by a slip up by an insubordinate. I would have preferred him to be out-thought head on. As it stands, I can't believe Light didn't think to tell Mikami to keep a spare bit of paper.

For me, the series ended when L died. I just couldn't sympathize with Near or Mello. Near was just too cocky. You don't come in on the scene, take the place of a much loved character and then tell the remaining favourite that you are better than him in every way. He just acted rather Mary-Sue ish and lacked characterization that L had. He was the scrappy.

With Mello, his personality didn't do much for me, and his death was anti-climatic.

The "I know you know" done at the end of the series needed to be longer, and not just one trick pulled by Near.
