Now I could do the usual "quote all the flaws in this episode thing" but I'll get straight to the point

WHY DID ASAMI AND BOLIN EXIST IN THIS SHOW!?
WHAT DO WE EVEN KNOW ABOUT THOSE TWO!?

Well, Bolin is obviously the Sokka of this series.

    And Asami...well...I dunno.

Well, Bolin is Sokka and Asami is some ***** that gets jealous, but uses Equalist equipment to help aid the Avatar.

I feel as if it was all rushed.

Asami was there because of her father. I thought it was a heartbreaking subplot.

And Bolin is awsome he doesn't need a reason.

And I liked the ending. :\ I bawled through the entire last fifteen minutes.
Remember guys, there were originally only going to be thirteen episodes, They had to hurry it up with the plot for a reason.

Yeah I know that. It still doesn't beat the fact that it was rushed.

I like to think that what Tarrlok did on the boat was a reference to *Of Mice and Men*. Amon was, in a way, the Lenny to Tarrlok's George.
The only difference was Tarrlok's fate.

"Tell me 'bout the rabbit dogs, Tarrlok."

I got the same kind of feeling. It was a really good ending for them I think. After all the wrongs they had done, they're still humans, and they knew they were done.

Episode was shining forced. Nothing felt like it was natural and free flowing. Amon and Tarrlok being brothers? Forced. Bolin having something to do? Forced. Asami not making good on multiple occurrences of betrayal face? Forced. Mako being able to resist bloodbending? Forced. Blood bros reconciliation into boat suicide? Forced. KorraXMako? KataraXAang level forced.

Iroh and Aang saved the episode.

i haven't seen the last few episodes and i hear the show is really fluctuating making-sense-wise, but i have to say what everybody else is saying that Bolin is the Sokka of LoK and Asami is that samurai island chick that Sokka fell in love with but i guess that wouldn't fall into place in the series and what is this thread even supposes to prove

Well, maybe now that Mako loves Korra, Asami can be Bolin's girl. Unless Mako keeps both Asami and Korra rofl.

Me too. No problem with that, so long as they build it up well.

That's no excuse for terrible pacing
ToddMcFarlane's Spawn had 18 episodes and had better pacing then this
True Tears was 13 episodes and built a better love triangle then this.

Let's focus on the good though.
The city was nice a environmental shift, it felt new and unexplored for the most part and the whole deal with Amon's fight for equality was an excellent theme for this kind of show.
The changes in time including the pro bending was cool despite what other's may say, it was interesting seeing the ever growing world and just how different it was from the time of the hundred year war.
Tenzin, Lin were great characters. Lin's sacrifice last episode was real nice conclusion to her story and struggle and Tenzin's relationship with Korra was the most fleshed out and well developed relationship throughout the whole show.
Even Tarrlock managed to really surprise me this episode with becoming a sympathetic character and that didn't feel too forced; still mad that it all came down to daddy issues though.
And of course the animation and music was top notch.

    And now the ****
Every character that WASN'T Tenzin, LIn and Tarrlock to an extent we're an absolute CLUSTER****!
Bolin had no effort put into him whatsoever. They literally just decided to make him "the funny guy" with no reason. It seemed that we were going to have some depth with him given his crush on Korra and how he would recover from it.
And then he got over it
And he still remained the same character he was before. Didn't mature, didn't change, nothing. Why did he ever have a crush on Korra? What was the point?

Asami is simple enough. We know nothing about her, her only purpose was to provide a love triangle to spice things up. You don't add a love triangle on the third episode of a 12 episode series, that's a recipe for disaster. Not to mention the love triangle was solved in the most.......WAS IT EVEN SOLVED!?
Seriously, last episode was Asami being super jelaous. Then in the span of 6 seconds it's like "I care about you enough to let you go Mako.". That's NOT how jealousy works Bryke, people don't just get over jealousy especially when the source of it KEEPS ON HAPPENING RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER! It's be like if your partner had sex with another guy/girl right in front of you multiple times and then one day you were like "lol over it".

Speaking of romance, why did anyone like eachother in this show? Korra loved Mako, Asami loved Mako, Mako loved Korra/Asami's wallet. Why? In ATLA we got to see Aaang and Katara take comfort and essentially have an affinity for eachother. Regardless of if you were Zutara or not you could still see how Kataang would happen.

But with this show it's thrown right into your face. There's no real reason why anyone likes anyone. The only person who clearly shows/says why he likes the girl is Bolin.

And of course, generally terrible pacing.
    Probending
    Airbending
    Amon
    Love triangle
    Tarrlock
Korra becoming a more spiritual person
WAAAAAAAAAAAY to much **** to squeeze into for a 12 episode series, they really should have gotten their act straight and focused on what would be important for the kind of show Avatar is. This leads to anti climatic stuff such as Yakone's past which was built up for 3 episodes suddenly being resolved in less then 1. Not to mention it's whole purpose was to warn Korra of Tarrlock a "villain" who was only threatening for 2 minutes before getting his bending removed. How did Yakone raise 2 kids? Plastic surgery. HOW IS EVERYONE RESISTING BLOODBENDING!?
    ..

    HOW WERE THEY DOING THAT!?

Asami's conflict with her dad? lol, did anyone ever remember that **** existed until the mecha fight? It's like she was sad about her dad being an equalist and then they made her jealous and angry and there was no mention of her dad forever until this last episode where the conflic came up again. Though it was pretty well handled compared to her love issues and regarding how little depth she had.

And of course Mako, the sorriest excuse for a character ever.
You know I eventually thought this whole being an ******* thing was going to reveal something about Mako other then the fact that he's an *******. Something to REDEEM him perhaps? Villains don't have to be redeemed when they do bad things but one of the protagonist? You probably want people to like this character so that the viewer doesn't end up rooting for the villain (unless that's your intention). But no, he says a few "I care about you's" and the whole issue is swapped under the rug. He get's the girl, he helps save the world, he's on good terms with Bolin and Asami, he's a complete Karma houdini

Horrible pacing and horrible characterization really hurt this show, it had a good story but character's mean a lot to me. Even show's with the worst most comprehensible plots can be somewhat savaged if the characters are a joy to watch either through their depth or just being extremely likable. It's essentially the reason why Baccano is pretty much my favorite modern anime. This show only had Tenzin and Lin keeping me going for it and somewhat Korra. For the most part I really didn't care about watching these characters. Child Amon and Tarrlock was fun to watch and is why I loved the flashback so much. It also gave the suicide scene a lot more impact, my jaw was on the floor when that **** happaned.

But yeah, wasted potential. I hope Bryke never writes a cartoon ever again in his life. Bring Aaron back.

If Bolin was the Sokka of this show he would have more use than being the comic relief, c'mon Sokka was a pretty useful character.
Yes, thank you. Bolin is probably the worst character (development-wise) in this show. During the episode when Korra is kidnapped Mako is the one going all crazy, not Bolin....? He was obsessed with her in the beginning, but if you watched this episode before the others you would not even know Bolin had a thing for her.

Heck why wasn't Tenzin freaking out? They had a really close teacher-pupil thing going on.

Yeah, I guess that explains it pretty well.

I still really, really enjoyed this season. Guess the writers need to learn how to deal with character development and plot progression in a span of much fewer episodes better...Bolin is like a rock (lol get it?) in his development, and Asami's hyped up jelly ended in...nothing.

    WAT?
Tarrlok and Amon being brothers wtf
    Plastic surgery
    Daddy issues everywhere
"Love you" "**** off -PMS HERE-...lol k love ya 2 bb"
Writers: "MAKE BOLIN BE ******ED HERE, HERE AND HERE"
Asami: "UGH MAKO UGH KORRA UGH MAKO ITS TOTALLY K"
Mako gets a happy ending after being a complete ****** for the past like 3 episode
    Mako: "**** YO BLOOD BENDING"
lol jk you can all have your bending back

    Me Gusta
    Aang
    Air Bending Korra
    Bloodbending
    Amon and Tarrlok's death

Seriously, when Katara came out and said she couldn't bring Korra's bending back I was like **** yeah set up a plot for her to travel around and re-learn her bending. Then Aang shows up and I was like "Oh **** he's gonna reinforce the re-learning!" Then he does his spirit bending **** and I'm like okay...wait...all her bending is back? Okay, she's the Avatar that's fair I guess and then "**** YEAH BENDING FOR EVERYONE". Am I the only who felt that was a cheap fix to the whole issue? Like I nearly shed a tear when Lin got her bending back because she's ****ing awesome but half of me was like "Wow no lasting consequences to the whole Amon ordeal? Oh, alright."

I am pretty bittersweet about that whole thing. I was counting on the pacing to improve, but it only sped faster and faster towards its conclusion with every episode. The excitement I had towards the beginning is starting to dwindle. The only real highlights were Korra coming into her airbending (at which point I literally shouted at the screen, particularly at Amon, "YOU FORGOT ONE BITCH"), Amon faking a scar, and the moment Korra had when she thought all she had left was her airbending... Of course ARBITRARY AANG AND HIS SPIRITUAL FIX-IT POWAZ kinda snuffed out that last one.

To the people defending its shortness: There is no excuse. And even if there was, that isn't it. If your story is intended to fit into thirteen episodes, it needs to be made for thirteen episodes. The content that was just hastily shoved into twelve episodes is worth practically two books of the original series. I was expecting a shorter series to cover significantly less material, perhaps tell a more personal story. Am I to believe there's more on the way? Were those thirteen episodes originally meant to house what we've seen plus several more plot arcs? That's even worse! No matter the decisions made behind the scenes, the bottom line is, it was paced poorly. There's no getting around that. And it drags everything else down with it. The characters don't get enough development, their reasons for doing things are not solidified, and the problems just snowball from there.

Disagree. Sudden, but not forced. I got a very clear sense that Tarrlok had already lost all hope of living a fulfilling life, and he probably didn't imagine Amon faring any better, even if he wasn't willing to accept it. They were just running away again. I think he understood that Yakone's legacy needed to end, and the fastest, cleanest way was for them to end. I liked the idea of the two being brothers, and while I will say set-up was far too hasty, the conclusion was one of the few satisfying points of it.

    THIS.
It was also never explained how Yakone could bloodbend without a full moon, I mean when they were like "Tarlokk can bloodbend without a moon because hes Kakone's son!" ok...? What makes him able to do it then...?

(unless it was explained and I just missed it)
