We just scared hopper off; which is not a good thing!!!
I mean sure he was kind of a noob, but he made up for it.
He invited over 5 people to join this website, and all we did was make fun of him. So now he's gone. Let's just hope his friends/brothers won't follow his path. We need to realize that newbie’s are what will help make our forum grow.
As Master Gross told me (FYI on of my martial art masters) white belts are the most important part of our school, they are what helps out school grow, and keeps us alive. We need to realize that right now.
All trolling must stop. Trolling is just a fancy word for cyber bullying, yet we have not done enough to control it. I believe stricter measures should be put on trolling, once we achieve this more new members will decide to stay instead of leave. By doing this we will make everyone happy, and if any member gets sore about a warning then he needs to realize that the staff have a responsibility, and that they cannot let problems slip by so easily. I am suggesting that we put on a different mask. We need to tighten up just a bit, because obviously this forum as a machine is not performing at full capacity.
Also we need to realize that new members are not always going to come in as a bright and shiny new gear. Some of them may be rusted, others may be scratched up, and some may be a different size, while others are made of weaker material that can not handle a certain position. The point is we need to learn that each member must be treated differently, that each member is going to react in a different way to your way of moderating.
Some may say I am overreacting. I am only voicing my opinion on what I think needs to be done.

KHV is not a troll site by nature. People here react, and they react to things that are stupid or annoying. I didnt know the guy, but I'm going out on a limb here to say he sure as hell annoyed the **** out of people. Its sad, and in many cases its why people leave the site, but you either adapt or are forever teased.

Thats the point we need to try not tease, but to incourage good behavior.
Personaly I think I might have overreacted when I wrote this thread, but I do like to express myself.
Anyway I know hopper was in fault many times, but I know he meant well, it's just he wasn't mature enough to handle this site; which is ironic since kingdom hearts is rated E. :/gasp:

He wasn't that annoying....people are just way too hard. He is a kid, we can't just say "toughten up!" When out there the world eats everything without any experience. Besides, the kid was off to a good start....maybe his actions were seen as silly, but that's no reason to beat something that's already down.

We expect to be treated nice and with respect, yet we can't encourage children in good things...how can we hope to reap what we don't sow?

Dude, that kid was only 10. He would make himself good if he actually left. But unfortunately he won't leave.
And he didn't invite those people here.

Well gosh we do have an age limit here, PG-13, okay so it doesn't nessecarily mean you can't come here if you're not above 13, but then it's at your own risk with the content if you're below 13.

So it doesn't really matter the age when you troll, you come here and do it at your own risk, you're not supposed to do it and if you're "underage" in addition, sucks for you.

    If you're talking about Rhoppergaurd,Flyn Pnut,etc.
I don't think they were good for the site in more than one way.
+All Rhoppergaurd did was ask me for rep :b

You're right to a certain degree about how new members are good to the site;but the trolling will never stop.
This is the internet. It makes people feel more powerful when they use it because they can say whatever they want and only get a warning for it.
You get banned from this site, just go on another one.
People think that it doesn't matter and most people either don't take anything seriously,or just don't care.

Although there are many good members on this site;there will always be more annoying/trolls/noobs on the site.

I don't think saying anything about trolling and how it has to stop is going to do anything anyway;since no troll is going to listen anyway.

I believe most members of this forum;and on others want there to be no trolling but to be honest,I think the trolls get a kick out of how people react to them.
Like past members, they joke around until it goes too far.

Quoted for truth. I haven't been on much lately so i wouldn't know this guy either, like Spirit here. people only react viciously when someone goes overboard on rule breaking the annoyance scale. people who come on this forum have to learn that they aren't the only person on this forum and that their actions have consequences.

    Actually your wrong its 10+

I know the little ones get offended easily but the insulting usually happens in the span zone right?
I think we should put a age limit on it.

While that could be a solid idea, keep in mind that some are more mature and can handle insults and whatnot better than others. I you were to put the age limit at say, 13, you still may have some 12 year olds who are mature enough to handle whatever trolling goes on.

Wouldn't that be kinda unfair, though? If they are able to come on this site, then they would be offended to find that a popular part of the forums is locked off from them for 1-3 years. Also, it would make people more tempted to post innapropriate things...I can already see it getting out of hand, so I don't agree with this idea, sorry. I get where you're coming from, but still...

It's not a matter of banning the spamzone, or anything like that. The mods just need to stop the flaming/trolling that goes on. We can do that, or give up. Blaming the spamzone is just a scapegoat when the real problem is out of hand members.

Even though Kingdom Hearts is rated E10+ we put a PG-13 rating on the content and behavior of members. Peyton is right, they are coming here at their own risk. We are going to start trying to clean things up, but there's only so much we can do. In some cases with Rhopperguard yes, we could have handled things better, and I'm sorry if he didn't get a fair chance to be a member here but we can only do so much. Sometimes you just have to grow a thicker skin.

I do see the point some of you are making with wanting tighter restrictions on some of the rudeness that happens. Yes, it is important to know that new members to the site are just that... new. So, we can't expect them to be perfect and if no one gives them a chance, it's not right. However, I can't see making more rules because the ones we have now are there and strong enough, and not every issue is just cut and dry where you can blame the older member of the site.

Some people mistake members pointing out criticisms on posts and such as simply trolling and hounding new members. Some people really cannot take criticisms at all very well, or being told that they are wrong. Also, some new people do not read the rules around despite the fact they are posted everywhere. Some people really do need some thicker skin; especially since some come in with an attitude of attention whoring and it tips off the members that they could be a problem. Most older members may joke in their responses to newer members while criticizing some behavior, but they aren't trying to be all out vicious. In their way they are attempting to get these newer people to see what it is they are doing wrong. The older members also have been pretty good at finding trolls, banned members under alts and other such problems because they are attentive, which has helped staff out. Maybe at times they are too critical, and some are just out to be rotten at the time, but on the other hand, other times they aren't. It's not always a black and white issue here. To be fair, staff has to determine each case as its own.

The staff does talk to members that seem to be too harsh with newer people when we discover it, and some do get infractions and such for being too critical or bullying. Best thing to do is if you feel someone new is being mistreated, pm one of the staff so that we can look into it, showing us the thread link you are referring to. In the rules it says for anyone who feels they are being mistreated to do just that. Other than that, really there is not much that is going to happen as we have the protocol in place and do what we can. Getting more strict on everyone in the Spam Zone or the Discussion Area (which are the two main places most stuff happens) is really not going to happen. The rules do work if we work together to keep them functioning, so if you see things, let us know and we'll do our best to figure them out and talk to the new person as well as the older member to try to help the newer person fit in better and/or get the other person to back off.

    exacto!

the spam zone isnt the source of the problem, when i was a "noob" i never set foot in the spamzone, i was more foucased on the Kingdom hearts theroies and such.

but clearly if you are a new memeber and post in the spamzone with zero post, you are going to get alot of "who the Fuck are u?! GTFO my site"

its not fair...but it happens...i dont honestly think that spamzone is a place that "noobs" should enter unless they have some posts...or a spine and can take internet trash-talking.

but really? this is the damn internet, if your insulted that easy, then you should be on here.

cant take the heat, stay off the forums, bitches

    Agreed.

I stayed away from the spam zone when I first joined. It was like the forbidden zone for me, until recently lol

I do think that kids should harden up, but some people definitely push the limit on the newer members. Just because it's the internet does not give anyone the right to be cruel.

I agree with Repliku on this one. The rules are fine but all this talk about staff needs to be stricter and the spamzone needs to be confined is just pushing the blame away from yourself. As important as the staff is to the site we are the majority, not them. We decide how everything is in essence. If you see trolling, report it. If you see someone getting picked on but not quite to the point of trolling, reach out and become friends. If they don’t know the ropes you can teach them, and if the truly are being picked on solely for being new then stick with them at least until they have a decent rep and post count. And if after trying to help they still leave it’s just that they weren’t cut out for this site yet, they will learn to toughen up sooner or later. But personally I don’t think people have the right to complain if you don’t do anything. And especially in this thread I feel the need to point out that I don’t know most of you, I’m just making a generalization.
