Okay, I've actually got a few suggestions / ideas regarding this.

    Would it be possible to:
    • Separate the waiting time limit between posts and profile comments?
      - It's annoying that you can't go and post a comment on a person's profile and have to wait if you just made a post in a thread.
    • Reduce the waiting time limit?
    • Nullify the waiting time limit?
      - If not that, maybe just for Premium Members as a perk?

    Thoughts?

Almost 100% this can't be fixed. Profile comments and posts are sort of tied together under the same option. "Minimum Time Between Messages (seconds)" It would take advanced coding or an add-on to make this work.

However, they could remove the time limit for Premium members by changing the "Bypass Flood Check" permission in the Premium member usergroup permissions from "Not Set (No)" to "Yes."

Only bad thing is potential for flooding because it would remove all time limits.

Considering you've made it to Premium, hopefully you'd know better than to flood the forums anyway.

That's a shame. That's one thing I liked about vBulletin.

This will probably be the best method should be this approved. Plus, if there are problems with certain individuals -- hopefully not a lot -- they can be dealt with by the staff.

I like to believe that Premium Members are forum-mature when they reach 1,000 posts as well.

Can't tell if you're serious or willingly joking.

No, but most of the Premium members don't even come around that often. There's a pretty big dent of the Premium census shut down. There definitely shouldn't be a problem with flooding. If anything else, just duplicate the Premium usergroup, leave the "Bypass Flood Limit" alone on it, change the one everyone is in now, and then just move any users who abuse the flood bypass.

Just wondering if anyone else -- staff and non-staff alike -- had feedback on this. :)

I'm also interested to know if this might become applicable in the near future. Staff?

I'm just not really sure that many people run into problems with the flood control? I know obviously that limiting it to Premiums would cut down on problems, but I don't know how you can conceivably be typing things out and posting them within 30 seconds. And even if you are, waiting a few seconds isn't that big of a deal...

It's not just for spam management, it also cuts down on simultaneous requests to the server.

I appreciate the notion of looking for Prem benefits but this just seems so minute and like nothing anyone would notice.

The only time I ever realistically run into the problem is if I post something, and then want to quote someone who I missed, or that just posted etc. and I just hit post again and let the auto merger sort out my problem as opposed to editing. Other than that though, not a really big deal.

I, for one, run into this problem a bit. With the RolePlays I'm in, I usually have several threads to reply to (both roleplays and OOC threads), PMs and VMs (Convo and comments or whatever), and then the rest of the forum. I tend to open everything in separate threads at once and usually go through everything as simultaneously as possible. For most people who are either not too involved with the forum or are active daily (which I don't have the luxury of doing), I don't see this being a problem. Regardless, that's just my personal preference for it. If it's deemed too minute, then that's fine, but I support Amaury's suggestion.
