How many times do I have to bring this up? Viva La Vida got Coldplay sued by Joe Satriani (a far more influential and far better musician than any of the should-be nobodies in Coldplay) for plagiarism and guess what? Satriani won. If that is considered the greatest song of the 2000s, then VH1 has NOT A CLUE what they are talking about.

    Sadly this could be true.

It's also sad that the Solja boy song (i seriously hate him with a passion) is going to place somewhere in the top 20...

although that makes no sense and if you heard both songs you can't even tell the similarities.
frankly, Linkin Park is lucky that U2 hasn't sued them because of the obvious similarities between Shadow of the Day and With or Without You

Did you look at any of the links I presented? One in particular actually took a music theory analysis and got results that agreed with Satriani's claims. Same tempo, same structure and same melody.

It may seem obvious to some, and you cancall me deaf, but I don't hear any resemblance, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Coldplay fan.
VH1 would put Viva as #1 because of how much it has been played, the public reception (remember, Viva won the grammy, not Satriani), because of its use ( it's been in a bunch of montages recently) and because of the album (which has had a few hits)
nevertheless, because of the sh*t storm I'm getting, I think that if Vh1 cares about the lawsuit (which they probably don't) they could also put down "Clocks" which was about as popular as Viva a few years back.
