Well this is interesting if it's happening. I mean, it's so strange to try and break into the console market when I hear it, and I can't even remember the last succesful time that happened, probably the Xbox.
I expect it to work much like a desktop computer yet centred around a gaming navigation.

    Promising i hope.

Well with the amount of successful games valve has(TF, portal, half life, left 4 dead) they shouldn't find it hard pressed for games of anything, that might mean though, they have to actually put the number 3 on a game! The horror.

I don't see the point of them making this. Isn't one of the main perks of Steam is to bypass consoles so they can be played on a computer? Not to mention that have that Big Screen thing already so Steam can already be played on a television. Seems useless to me.

Well if valve thinks they are ready for this we should see how long it lasts, the could become the next Nintendo!(highly doubt it though)

Hey this seems pretty neat. Glad to see they finally decided to announce it. Hopefully, it will be cheap enough. Still, it is a PC... Designed for TV gaming. Which is weird, but very cool. I will be keeping an eye on this.

How is Valve like the next Nintendo?

The point of releasing a console would be so that you could have a "set top" sort of thing that you could keep all of your PC games on. Some people can't afford a PC that can play games reasonably, so a PC based console using a freely distributed OS would, in theory, be much more affordable.
