only putting this here because I can't say it's something to put under gaming since I have no clue what the game is about and everything.

Anyways, I've got $15 dollars right now, and while I should save it, I also want another game, and I probably could have not bought lunch to buy Megaman Starforce Black Ace, I bought lunch, so now I've got $15 to spend for a game. Without repeating myself like I just did in that run-on sentence, what do you guys think of the game? I've only played the second one for a little while one the PS2 since I rented it from my library, but I really liked it. Since then I've wanted to play the games more, and I can buy this game now, but I want to know if it's worth it. It looks like it's got pretty good ratings; not the best ratings, but still pretty good. But I'd rather take some of your opinions on it

Well, I only played the second one too. But if I really liked the second, I would buy the first. I don't have almost a single clue about it, so I would buy it. But see your options, there is a game which you really want too or are you wanting to buy another thing?

well, since there's only a limit on the games I could buy with $15, and i was just browsing gamestop for some options, I really only came to this. There were some that looked a little interesting, but they're just games I'll buy when I have extra money and I really don't know what else to buy. And I want to play the first, but I'm going to wait till I get a PSP for that one. I know there's a PS1 version, but I don't feel like getting it

Story-wise it isn' t great, it only explains why Leneth was amnesic in VP1.
Gameplay-wise it' s a T-RPG with a VP fight gameplay. I love both T-RPGs and the VP fight gameplay, so I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Hell, it' s probably my favorite DS game. Covenant Of The Plume is purposefully hard so that you sacrifice many characters to the plume in your first run (which leads to the Bad Ending), then just a few characters in a New Game + (Normal Ending), then none (Good Ending). However I managed to get the Good Ending on my first run (very tough but not impossible).
There are several forks in the story so that you don' t feel like playing the same thing thrice.

wait, are you saying it's a game that each action you do makes a different ending? And when you say sacrifice, are you saying not have any of your characters die?

You can sacrifice characters to the plume, which turns them into, like, Super Sayans for the rest of the fight but then claims their life. It also allows the other characters to unlocks powerful techniques permanently. Since you can recruit many characters you can remorselessly sacrifice those you didn' t intend to play with anyway.

The forks in the story affect who you can recruit, the ending is only affected by the number of characters you sacrificed to the plume.

so you can decide to get a certain character one game, and with the New Game + you can decide to get someone else if you want something different? And if you get new techniques from sacrificing, is there any way to get them without sacrificing? Because in the other games you only had to equip a weapon with the ability possible and you could do it. And do you have to get the Bad Ending first? Or can you do it in whatever order you want?

Can I ask something off topic aqua? I'm not sure if that's the one you're talking about, but would you recommend the VP... I don't remember the name, I think it's 2 Silmeria?

Yeah, I'd definately recommened Valkyrie Profile 2. And yes, it's Silmeria. As far as I know it's kinda like a parallel world from the first, where the roles are switched and different things. I only looked it up online, so I'm not sure exactly what's different besides characters and stuff. The battle system and everything was really nice. It's kinda like a platformer, and while I hate those, this one did fairly well, and the scenes and battles definately made up for it. And the puzzles were interesting as well.

    Yup.
    Nope.
As I said I managed to sacrifice no one and get the Good Ending first. I' m proud of it because it was quite a challenge, but on the other hand it would make more sense to unlock as many techniques as you can as soon as you can. Challenge or completion ? Your choice.
VP2 is a direct sequel to VP1' s A Ending (the tougher ending to get).

with that New Game+, do you get to keep the techniques you get from the old file? Or would you have to do it again?

Yes, that' s why starting with the Bad ending makes more sense.

yeah, I can see that. Well, I think now I know what game I'm buying. And even if the story is a little fuzzy, I'll probably enjoy it. If you really want a confusing story, you should play Time Hollow; great game, just way to confusing.
