The first sig I've ever made. CnC please? It's Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat. I think it's a little big so I might resize it.
Woah Midny~ I'm impressed, especially since this your first ever sig! Much better than what I can do, haha. You went a wee bit mad on the smudging though, still I like it. I feel as if adds effect or something. ffff, I'm jealous. Well done~ c:
Very cute <3 Did you smudge around Kitty? I kind of observe that. Try using different layers (separate stock/main image from background). Then you could smudge smoothly without worrying of Kitty - it would make the whole signature/tag a lot smoother and give it flow~ I like how you smudged more here though c: And the colours are super cute together. I love the brightness of the text - it totally just pops! Really good job, especially for a first!! n___n
Thanks for the feedback, I really appriciate it. ^,^ I probably did go a bit OTT on the smudging, I just wanted to not show any of the background. I'll try the layers thing in future, though I'm not certain how you remove the original background first. If anyone was wondering, this was my original stock. My resized version: Is that still a bit big? Hmm..
Yeah, they're still a bit big. Did you see the size I recommended to you? I like the second one slightly smaller version, though.
Wow, this is wonderful! For a first try you've done really really well! (lol better than me, but then isn't everyone? :p) The smudging here looks really nice and professional, it works well for the flow of the render too. The coloured part in the middle near the focal is also very nice, and adds a nice touch. The text here looks fine to me, doesn't draw any attention away from Kitty and adds a bit more variety to the colour palette. Really great work! Do you think you're going to continue with Graphic Art?
Yes, well I've added it to my randomiser at least. ^,^ Oh thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I think I might have another few tries. I really need to learn how to use gimp, I know what I want it to do, it's just working out which combination of buttons you have to press to get it to do that. I'm getting there slowly, took me ages to figure out how to format text (turned out half the toolbox was hidden off screen xD) but I've figured that out now. It's just a matter of experimenting and perhaps watching a few tutorials.
Actually, for your first signature, this is pretty good - way better than mine ever was, considering I had originally used MSPaint. For starters, [although this will be the only advice I give you for now] I think that you should work on your blending skills with the render, but honestly, I think you did really well for your first time. Good luck ~ ♥
Woah Midny! This is exceptional for a first try! The stock is of high quality and I like the smudging effect. The two main things I will pick up on are that you should try blending the render a bit more into the background, at the moment she kind of sticks out. You can do this by taking a soft brush and gently erasing bits that are toward the back e.g. her left shoulder, her pony tail or the collar of her shirt. The second thing is there should be more of a flow, like the smudging should go from a focal area to the outside, kind of like this: Spoiler (I know, sexy image :3) or have them going from bootom left to top right, something like that. It also doesn't have to be a straight line, it can waver a bit. Apart from that, I think it's great! The colours work well because you used the stock's colouring scheme. Keep it up, you don't need me to make you sigs all the time xD
Blend Kitty more so that she doesn't look completely lifted from the background. Maybe show some of the background wrapping around her? Or since I know a bit of Kitty, try erasing bits of her to make it appear that she's using her powers? The text looks really plain. Give it some kinda effects, or try blending it with the background. Maybe try adding more gradients of color, to give the sig more depth. It looks somewhat flat as it is, with such solid colors, y'know what I mean? The background looks too random and somewhat boring. Give it more details, something to make it pop more, almost like its a character on its own, but without detracting from your focal point (Kitty and the text). I almost feel like a border would make it look much cooler, but....I might be biased cause thats what I always do to mine lolz Exceptional job on your first signature though. Kitty's a cool character, and I can tell you put lots of effort into this :]
