Me and my friend had this argument over Otakus and Weaboos and she explained that Otakus and Weaboos are the same thing.
    Is it?

Well an Otaku is someone obsessed with something and a Weeaboo is the plural for Wapanese and that means they are wanna be Japanese people; for example they try and speak Japanese but fail.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I tried telling my friend that, but she said Otakus do the same as Weaboos. But Otaku sounds much better ,does it not? When I think Otaku I see Konata, an awesome anime character, when I think Weaboo, I think internet troll on DA.

    Allow me to explain.

A Weeaboo is a stereotype of a non-Japanese citizen (stereotypically a Caucasian, hence the alternative title "Wapanese") who has assimilated Japanese Culture to the point of obsession. Mind you, not ''all'' Anime fans are like this, a Weeaboo would be part of the vocal minority that is usually what non-Anime fans think of when they hear "Anime fan."

Common traits Weeaboos are believed to possess are:

    1. Believing Japan is the greatest country in the world, and lament the fact that they are not Japanese.

    2. Denying that Japan can do anything wrong, particularly anything that occurred in World War Two.

    3. Memorizing Japanese and integrating it into their normal day to day conversations (and usually sucking at it).

Mind you, there is a difference between simply being interested in Anime, Manga, and Japanese Culture, and being obsessed with Japan. Keep that in mind.

Now if you all would return back to the topic.
