Kingdom Hearts II Twilight town questions

My first question: What is Twilight town? I thought it was a world created with data, by Diz a.k.a Ansem. But if that's so, how did the Organisation get hold of a card that allowed Sora and Riku to go there in Castle Oblivion?

Another thing, if the world is created by data, does that mean Hayner, Pence and Olette never existed?
Also, regarding Hayner, Pence and Olette, how comes they never sort of seemed surprised to see Roxas. I mean, unless Roxas knew them while he was in the organisation how comes with his new personailty, he's suddenly just best friends with them. Surely they'd wonder who he is? Also, they don't seem surprised / upset when Sora meets them after Roxas 'disappears'?

Twilight town is both a real place and a place created by DiZ. In the one DiZ created, everything is centred around keeping Roxas safe until Sora awakens. This includes data versions of Hayner, Pence and Olette, with only some of the memories implanted to make the illusion seem real. The real Twilight town is the one you go to in 358/2 days. The people there may have known Roxas (not sure) but they do not retain this memory is it spoils DiZ's illusion. I'm not sure about Chain of Memories. I think it might be made from either Roxas's memories or some other organisation members.

I think the answer to your first question is that, during the final few hours of KH1, Sora is turned into a heartless, correct? Roxas is created from that heartless, the same as Namine is... That is explained in the journal of KH2 I believe... But anyway... So Roxas is created at the end of KH1... He joins the Organisation between KH1 and CoM, seeing as how between KH1 and Com, he also goes rouge and leaves the Organisation... Riku goes after him and he is given false memories of Twilight Town from Diz, who then puts him in the false Twilight Town with Hayner, Pence and Olette... (This is from what I can remember... It's been ages since I played, so Im probably wrong) Because Roxas was a part of Sora, Sora had the fake memoreis of Twilight Town as well, so when Marluxia created the cards at the start of CoM, the memories of Twilight Town were used as well as the others...

Also, the Hayner, Pence and Olette in the data Twilight Town were also data, themselves... They were programmed to be Roxas' friends I think...


That is entirely what I can remember... My memory is terrible, however, so dont regard me as right, unles someone else can verify what I've said...

I believe there were two Twilight Towns in KH2, one which DiZ created and another where Sora visited. I also believe that the virtual gang we're implanted with memories of Roxas​

Vexen made the card for Sora to go to Twilight Town (or the memory of it) based off Roxas's tenure in Twilight Town. Because Sora and Roxas are linked, the memory Roxas had was used instead of Sora's.

The real Twilight Town is a world that lies on the edge of Darkness but there is still some light. It is where the Nobodies tend to show up after being formed because it is so close to Darkness.

The Fake Twilight Town was a digitalized creation by DiZ so that they could capture Roxas and contain him while allowing Namine to restore his memories so that Sora and Roxas could be rejoined together.

However, the 3 other kids and many things from Twilight Town were reproduced to be in the fake Twilight Town. Hayner, Pence and Olette were all real. The real versions even recalled Roxas vaguely, though in DiZ's simulation, he established and programmed the fake Hayner, Pence and Olette all as friends to help relax Roxas's mind. He also (and Namine), of course, gave Roxas some fake memories so that he would not recall the Organization, which is why Roxas had no memories of Axel when he showed up, but started to recall him at the end.

 

It's both real and fake. The fake one was created for Roxas, so he could actually hang out with other people when he left. The real one doesn't have Roxas at all. The card rules are of course fake. The only reason Sora has a memory of it was because of Roxas living in it. Though I suppose that should've been obvious.

EDIT: The gang still existed as well. They were data, and they were probably created to be friends with them.

It's real just as everyone else has said. He must've been friends with them before because in a cutscene Axel says you better go see them again

Actually he never met the real HPO
After being born and named by Xemnas, Roxas turned the invitation to join the org and went into town.
He saw HPO there and became sad that he didn't have firends or something like that. Then Axel came, under Xemnas' order, and they became friends and when Axel gave him another invitation to join, he accepted.
When DiZ made the Virtual TT, he sampled the hearts of HPO and the other TT residents to make their digital copies. How he did, I have no idea. But the digital copies, because of that, were as close as the real thing but still had the capability of being programmed to suit DiZ's need.
