Community Traditional art of the Month! Up and running

Hey everyone!

Suggested by the lovely members мσησ¢няσмє and Llave de Espada we at long last have a new Art competition in the Graphic art section: Traditional art of the month! (inventive title I know)

This will run similarly to Signature of the Week but instead of you creating computer graphics we’ll have pieces of artwork ranging from Comic strips to oil paintings. The topic of your piece each round will change and can range from a certain video game to maybe a certain type of medium. Ideas for the topics can be suggested in this thread and ANY idea is welcome.

This will have a longer time limit than Signature of the week as we know a piece of traditional art can take a lot longer than a week so each round will be about a month with extensions available if you feel you need more time. We will then have 1 week for votes to be cast (how to vote can be found here) and the winner will receive a pin and the pride of winning! (As well as their piece displayed on the hall of fame)

Anyone can enter and if you are unsure of what constitutes as traditional art then here is the definition:

It is now open so please enter! The first topic will be freestyle to get the competition underway so any piece of traditional artwork is welcome, you don’t need to be an expert. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask me as I shall be running the competition.

For those who don’t know what Signature of the week is then it’s a competition held every (more or less) week and it’s for members to enter computer designed graphics, or Signatures, that they created which are relevant to that week’s topic. The members of KHV can then vote for their top 3 (their 1st choice getting 3 points, 2nd getting 2 and 3rd getting 1) and the winner receives a pin and their work on the hall of fame. Traditional Art of the Month will run similarly but with traditional art and a longer time limit.​

Posting my question in this thread just to keep it up and inform people.

If we draw a page of let's say rough sketches or a character design, could we enter the whole page or would we have to choose one individual piece from the page for our entry?

 

You can use the whole page unless it's just that character you want (obviously) unless the theme of the week says otherwise.

Alright, thank you for clearing this up.

Now to continue my doodles, except now they will actually have a purpose (besides my fanart of course).

I expect to see a good turnout, given how many people have shown interest in this already. Hopefully, I am not let down.

This is interesting. I will take a look at this!

I love drawing, wish I was good at it. Lol.

 

I may start to get back into drawing because of this. I will be sure to take part in this at some point.

This is an all around good idea.
