Mmkay, it's time for another week's results for the Top 5! Quick note that I'm going to have to push some things around schedule-wise starting next week -- I have listed details at the bottom of this post.

1. Counting the Stars

Details: This fits the song wonderfully, it's a very sweet video with nice colors and careful attention towards the lyrics. I'm not usually one to make a big deal out of subtitles, but I actually found them quite distracting here -- it would have been just perfect if the border was a little bigger so they were gone =]. Loved it!

2. Kingdom Hearts- Final Destination 5 Trailer

Details: This was very clever! I bet it's especially difficult to make Kingdom Hearts clips work smoothly with a horror movie trailer, but this was done pretty nicely. The computer bits fit eerily well. Good job.

3. Final Fantasy Goodbye Squall, Tidus, and Zidane

Song: Daija Na Mono wa Mabuta no Ura by Kokia
Details: The clips were matched perfectly with the dramatic swells of the music in this. Very emotional. It didn't have many effects, but in my opinion perfect for the song in that simplicity.

Details: The lip syncing was pretty good and you did an awesome job matching the lyrics. Overall, very straightforward but well put together.

5. { Love the way you lie }

Details: The text was a tad hard to see and had a couple of spelling errors, but I loved the construction of this video -- the black and white suited it well and you fit the lyrics. One thing bugged me, though: You repeated clips! Mirroring them helped to mix it up a little but I would recommend using different clips instead =] Good job.

Important Notice: Due to summer vacation ending for me, I can no longer judge the Top 5 on weekdays. Because of this, starting next week, results will be posted on Saturdays instead of Wednesdays. That means instead of posting the next batch of results on Wednesday, August 24th, I will be posting them on Saturday, August 27th. Since this results in an extra three days of submissions, I will have a runner-up/"sixth place" in next week's Top 5, which will also be eligible for the Pin. The results will go back to the regular one-week long, five-place format the week following -- of course, going up on Saturdays unless otherwise noted.
My apologies for any inconveniences the delay may cause.

Oh wow, Counting the Stars was magnificent. The effects gave it a very bright and soft feel and I love it when you can mix in the actual dialogue. Great job minicoop and everyone else!

 

Well done to all the winners, I thought they were very good. The song choice for the 1st and 5th ones was amazing, I loved them both. I really enjoyed the trailer as it worked very well and it did give me goosebumps, and that is a sign of a well made trailer. Well done everyone though.

SO excited to get #2! That's the highest I've ever placed! But surprisingly enough, it isn't all that difficult to make a horror movie trailer out of Kingdom Hearts. It's all in syncing up the characters' mouths to the dialogue, cropping, and using unique camera angles that give you that "horror movie feel". For instance, at the part when it looks like Kairi is looking around panicking in the "eye doctor's", it's really just a first person perspective of Roxas discovering the computer room. It's all in the allusion, people! :P
