I have to be at school at 8:00 - 11:00 AM to set up a table to hand out water to people running a benefit marathon. weep for me, kh-v.
It could be worse... You could be living in a slum, wondering where you'll find your next meal. You could be a living in a war torn region, wondering if you'll live to see tomorrow. You could be living under a dictatorship, afraid to speak. You could be a parent having recently lost your job, wondering how to tell your kids you can't afford gifts this year. You could be a transgender youth who receives death threats on a daily basis and know that you can't turn to anyone because you are transgender. You could be an asexual, living in a society that glorifies sex and treats you like a circus freak because you're not interested. You could be a woman kidnapped into prostitution or a child kidnapped into a child sex ring. You could be an orphan. Or to put it another way... ~*First World Problems*~
It's not a true marathon. It's just walking or running, whichever you prefer, down the road and back. they're calling it a 5k but that's absolute bullshit because I walk it everyday when I go home. It's a little over a mile one way. So back and forth would be about 2.5 miles.[DOUBLEPOST=1353553544][/DOUBLEPOST] So because I don't live a horrible life I'm not aloud to complain about anything? Because I don't eat dirt for every meal means that I'm not aloud to complain about anything? This type of thing really grinds my gears. And just so you know the reason I'm going at all is because I'm part of a group trying to raise money for to provide schools in Africa with water. I'm fully aware of how well I have it, but that doesn't mean that I can't voice my complaints.
Well, I, for one, like running and volunteering in marathons. As long as it isn't god-awfully chilly, like 10 degrees Fahrenheit. But at least it's for a good cause and stuff.
Okay, it's for a good cause but you still sound kind of like a jerk for complaining about having to wake up at 8am for charity work. I'm just saying that other people in the world don't have the things we take for granted. [Clean water, food in bountiful supply, our health/easy access to doctors, education, employment, stable family life, internet, etc.] And the not finding food thing was just one of my points. Also, it's allowed. Just saying.
This was 80% joke. I'm not that upset. I don't see anything wrong with (half jokingly) complaining about waking up early to do voluntary charity work. Just because someone somewhere else who is far less fortunate me is living a life that I probably won't ever have to live doesn't mean that my complaints are any less valid. People need to let go of the notion that if someone is less fortunate it is shameful to complain about anything whatsoever. I was given the option to be there, knowing that it would be this early. If i didn't want to do it, I wouldn't have. Also, just throwing this out there, my former art teacher from South Africa recently had to go through multiple mouth surgeries because of poor dental health when she was younger. I'm aware of how incredible our health care is.
It could be worse. It could be Thanksgiving tomorrow and you'll have to meet with your family and eat until you pop. Oh wait. That's not a bad thing. That's awesome.
Or you could be too sick to NOT meet with your family, because if you eat until you pop, you'll throw it back up... Yay for missing out on the Holiday "Let's stuff ourselves and be grateful for it and other things." T~T
Is that your motto or something ? ^^ Complaining about trivial complaints => First World Problem lol. KHV => First World Forum.
