It's more than a year after Light's death. Although the antholgy doesn't list a cause of death, wiki says that it's suicide. I always though that it was suicide as well to be honest. She may have been doing well, recovering after Light's death, but after the one year aniversarry after his death, she couldn't take it anymore. That's just my thinking though. Probably an overdose.

Ah, see, yeah, I finished the manga and then just kind of left the series alone, lol.
That makes sense though, she was kind of dependent on Light, haha.

Edit: But thinking about it now, wouldn't they arrest her for being the second Kira once Light died?

You would think so, but Light left no evidence that pointed Misa as the second Kira. And she lost her memories of the Death Note, so it would be difficult to trap her. I like to think that the Task Force and the SPK felt sorry for her because she was Light's pawn. Plus, it would've created an uproar in the media if she was arrested too. However, in the live action movie, we see what happens to them a year after Light died. You see her, in her room (on Light's birthday) paying tribute to Light. It's even mention that she won't be held in custody.

    Makes sense too, lol.
I do really feel bad for Misa, she was such a sweet girl and Light is so annoying. :'c

Light was an ass to begin with. Misa, while annoying, was a very sweet character. She was used, and she knew it as well, but she still carried strong feelings for Light. In reality, her story is the true tragedy in all this, and she can't even remember how she was used. I will give it to her though, she did stay commited until the very end. I want to say that she overdosed because that would be the kindest way to go for her. Jumping off a roof, shooting herself, or even hanging just wouldn't be kind.

I figured she died, whether it be suicide (which I believe) or not, because it was her time. Didn't she make the eye deal twice? If she was originally going to live to 100, she wouldn't live past 25 after making the deal twice. And she died when she was 26.

Although, it's possible Rem's death gave her those years back.

Well, that could be the simple way of saying it. Misa acted impulsively way to often instead of stopping and thinking for a second. And Light's actions are immature. One must understand that evil does live in the world and just live with it. The world's not his ideas of perfect, so instead of working hard to change it, he just tries the easy way.

That sounds a bit loaded, though, if you think about it. If you are able to do something, it cannot be called cheating to do it. If you are in a fight and your adversary pulls out a knife, and you have a gun, it would be foolish to pull out your knife instead simply because it would be 'a fair fight' or something else like, "You are just doing things the easy way." If your goal is their death, then killing them 'fairly' would be irrelevant to the goal. Unless you are someone for whom the ends are the means, taking the fastest available route to the ends is almost always the best choice. I found Light's fault to be in his choice of targets, and not in his use of the note at all. Sticking with methods that have proven to be ineffective of the sake of doing things 'the hard way' is folly by almost any standard. It is just a matter of deciding on whether or not the ends justify the means. And a different ballpark altogether, is that one.

I think that the biggest argument against Light was not his choice of weapon at all, but that him attempting to eradicate evil made him just as evil as the people he killed. That's assuming one believes it's a crime to kill any person, regardless of their deeds, some feel differently (death penalty supporters, for example). That coupled with the fact that Light was doing this and crowning himself God is what turned me against him, personally.

But yeah, I did always wonder about Misa's lifespan. If I remember correctly, Light died in 2010, and as Tummer said in the OP, Misa died in 2011. If she was born in 1984, that'd mean she was 26 at the time of Light's death, 27 at the time of her own. According to the Death Note wiki (which may be inaccurate of course), Misa's parents died in 2003, and she was attacked by the stalker in 2004.
So her original lifespan was supposed to be a mere 20 years. So, post-Gellus (think that's the Shinigami that killed the stalker? Can't remember) killing, her lifespan was about:
    20 * 2 = 40
    40 * 2 = 80

80 years, meaning he added 60.

Now for the years added due to Rem killing L.
Misa had only done the eye deal once at the time (iirc), so her life expectancy was about 40 years. L is killed in late 2004. Since Misa would only live for another 6 years, the second eye deal means that she would have before Rem's death lived another 12. So Rem only added 2 years to Misa's life span.

This doesn't factor in her birthday, the fact that I make idiot mistakes in math, or that I don't remember the rules of the Death note very well, lol.
