I haven't played the 3DS version but I've had the N64 version for as long as I can remember. I've finished it numerous times. It is possibly the best video game I've ever played. Those of you who have played both, which do you prefer ? Which is more comfortable/easy to control ? Obviously the 3DS wins with the graphics. But do you still enjoy the classic version better ? The 3DS also has the master quest like the GameCube while the N64 doesn't. I want to buy it, but is it worth it ? I don't have a 3DS either but I need one for DDD anyway. Should I buy Ocarina of Time 3D ? Or is my N64 version enough ?
I'd buy the 3D version. It appeals to me because of the innovation (Iron boots can be set to an item button, making the Water Temple easier to bear.) The original's better, but I recommend the 3DS version if you want a fresh take on a great classic.
Okay I understand everything you said except the original's better part. I mean it's a remake, with better graphics, better gameplay in the sense of the iron boots you just proved and it comes with new stuff as well, the master quest. So, how is it better? Other than the original being the classic we remember the only thing it has that is better is being able to be played on a bigger screen.
It's just my opinion that the original is better. I do like the new remake, but it's the memories that come with my playthroughs of the original that make it better. The original was my first game ever, so thats why I see it as better.
Both are equally good. I prefer the N64 version for the nostalgia bomb. I never understood why people complained about the water temple so much. Going to the menu and back takes a grand total of 3 seconds. As if someone playing a video game can't spare the time to do that. 3DS version has some nice updated graphics. I would only recommend people to buy the 3DS version if: 1) Never played the original. 2) Hardcore fan of the original/Zelda series. Otherwise it's the same old Ocarina of Time. Also, the 3D effect is just a major gimmick IMO. It gets annoying after awhile.
