I can only presume they're clearing out any problems they perceive, which is unlawful and extremely scary. It is prevalent in more corrupt countries, but in the USA it shouldn't be like that, the regime is based on the idea of justice, freedom and liberty, not persecution of said liberties.

 

That was over two hundred years ago. And even then they allowed taxation and conscription from day one. There is no state that will favor individual liberty over its own continued existence. Specifically, when you run out of money because the wars you waged on credit are coming home and so are the bills, and then you seek to wage more war with Iran, you can expect mass civil unrest and dissatisfaction from the populace. These things are unavoidable. But, what do you do with them? You cannot let them run their course because that would ruin A) your position in the hierarchy B) your income and livelihood C) the hierarchy itself and D) your ability to claim that you keep things orderly.

When the cows charge the fence, you electrify the fence. What else are you going to do? Let them go?
