Kingdom Hearts II Thoughts on Anti-Form

I don't know, but I'm currently working on leveling up my Drive forms and as I was doing wisdom, I went into Anti for the first time in a while.
I just think that there's some sort of unknown signifigance to anti-form that may come later on in the series.
There's some theroies saying it's just because he was a heartless at one point and that some of the power remained. There's also one stating that it's because the drive forms provide a lust for power, which leads to darkness, but, I don't know.

Storywise its related to soras time as a heartless. An interview mentioned it.

Yeah, he's right. In that interview it also mentioned that since Drives are unstable, the darkness remaining in Sora may become activated. Although he's not a Heartless in Antiform, that's the closest he'll ever get to being one again.

 

Anti-form is a pretty intriguing form, when you think about it.

I find it interesting that it is random and you can't cure while you're in it. It really gives some perspective that perhaps Sora is in fact very heartless-like while in this form. It make have a connection to the fact that he previously was a heartless, or something to do with the little amount of darkness in his heart. I wouldn't say its because the drive forms are a lust for power though, because they really aren't.

Actually, I'm not too into either theroy.
I just can't help but think there's a deeper meaning or signifigance to the form.

 

Ok, each drive represents a different part of Sora's heart being brought to the fore.

In the mirrors in Yen Sids tower, it points to this.

Valor form is Sora's streanth, Wisdom is his magic, Master is both Magic and streath, where as Final Form is actually the Keyblades power being brought out.

Anti-Form is actually Sora's darkness being brought to the fore.

I think they made this a random form, whith no healing abilities to discourage form spamage during tough matches, it doesnt really matter, since its fun fight bosses with forms anyway!


Now, the heartless connection...

Much like Riku, Sora supresses the darkness within him. He does this with his very strong light of his heart. If he did not have that light, he would probably still be a heartless.

Now I think when he uses his forms, it is possible that his light may lapse momentarily, causeing him to take anti form. Being that hes reaching deep into his heart, probably some place near his darkness.

Also, in Final Form, he doesn not depend on his heart for power, he depends on the Keyblades power, so he never takes anti form, since the keyblade does not have darkness supressed within it.

Well the theory makes sense. The way I see it, it seems like Sora was tainted by darkness when he released his heart and now it can't return to the purity it once was. Of course he seems normal more often than not, but when his anti-form comes up we can see the lasting effects of that darkness.

I too believe that Anti-form is the manifestation of the darkness remaining in Sora's heart after he became a Heartless. Unleashing the Drive forms' power triggers said darkness, making Sora become Heartless-like. In this form, Sora has the advantages of a Heartless, like speed and the power of darkness, but also the disadvantages, meaning he can't heal or use reaction commands or Keyblades.

Like ICSP said, Anti-form was probably thrown in there to prevent Drive spammage, because if using Drives were that simple, the game just wouldn't be as fun.

I think that the forms represent different parts of Sora

Valor - streangth and the will to fight
Wisdom - magic and search of knowlegde
master - light and the power of friendship
final - nothingness and streangth of heart
anti - darkness and what is against his beleifs

(Note my breakdown for final was based around roxas since you can only become that after fusing almost entirely with him)

 

Well, Anti Form DID appear in KH1.

 

It was close but not quite it. You can tell if you see them side by side. It really was just a shadow clone.

I know your talking about the one at Neverland. I'm just saying that it was a clone of Sora created from shadows. Not anti-form

 

Nice theory. Im going to continue it. Yes, Sora suppresses darkness but its definately not true that if he lost his light, he'd become a heartless. Kairi fixed that. and if he does become a heartless she'll fix it again. besides sora still retains memory and thoughts in his heartless form so hes never truly a heartless. The main concept of drives are to merge two hearts/abilities together to make a stronger "form." Of course, when u merge to hearts together u also merge the darkness within them. For example, valor form is a combo of sora and goofy's light, but also a combo of sora and goofy's darkness. same thing with donald. of course its small amounts of darkness but its all thats needed to go anti for sora i guess. and then, theres that whole saying in kh1, "the closer u get to light the greater your shadow becomes."

You have to look at every detail. Its actually nothing like Anti-Form.

Dark Sora (KH1 Boss) was a manifestation of Sora's darkness, I believe.
Anti-Sora (KH2 Form) is, continuing on the above theory, when his heart becomes weakneed and it succumbs to the darkness temporarily. When driving, you call upon the light within yourself and your party members to transform. The closer you are to light, the stronger your darkness becomes, as KH1 said.

 

put in a spoiler on this sign somebody may have not got to anti form and wisdom form.any ways, i thought the same thing with anti and that shadow clone. no it was not his anti form, just a thing that riku made-that guy...riku is kinda blank with the darkness thing.
