And if you don't have them, stall like a boss.

But, having both cards at the begin at the hand can mean a fast OTK against anyone.

I would've set another monster and played Messenger, I think you still had a card in your hand, so Brio that too, and then SS'd bubble man in DEF, so you'd have needed to summon two mystic shine balls if you wanted to win that turn, in which case you wouldn't win with 8000 LP, so it wouldn't be a total defeat.

you dark hole one Hyperion, he summons another, then that uses the first as fuel. He has the same chance of having Hyperion you have of having Fusion Gate.

 

I could have removed Hyperion to destroy Messenger then discarded Grannel to send back your monster...
and how would you SS bubbleman?
