The Wii's Virtual Console Games Have Been Revealed to Be... A ROM File With HTML?

...That's it? Wow I expected it to be a tad more complex. But if that can get more homebrew to my Wii, then cheers to that!

Hell, even Nintendo knows ROMs and Emulators are the best way to go to play old games these days. >:

Thats been pretty obvious. The only way to emulate old games would to *big suprise here* use an emulator 8D. A rom is just the data copied from a cartridge. Although for Nintendo, they have the finished the products in their databases making the transfer to their servers easy. The Wii just simply emulates the downloaded games and ta-dah, you have your old school game. The only difference being that the lovely stuff you download from the VC has no errors, you can play many different games without having to open up a new emulator, and it comes with the manual.

Why do you say that. The Virtual-Console plays games that are the copied ROM files of the original game, and emulated on the Wii's hardware without the need for the actual console, so it emulates a digitalized console so that the game thinks it's being played on it's original system. Hence the name of the service: Virtual Console. The games are being streamed on what could be considered an imaginary virtual Console of the original one.

 

Id like to add that an emulator on your computer lags alot with anything above 2-d graphics unless you have a really good computer, so for many people the V.C. is a ladder route =D
