Jesus and St. Peter, Timon and Pumbaa, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, Ernie and Bert, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, Sora and Riku, and by the last one, you should get the point: Axel and Roxas.

What do people find so wrong with two guys who act like brothers, though they aren't actually related? It is a very serious matter I find. Can some people not have a mind enough to grasp that some people can be straight, and also have a Best friend who is the same gender as them? They can even love one another, but not with a sexual attraction. An unconditional love. Maybe that is why so many people think monogy is some kind of wood.

While it is true, Gay people do exist, but why must their existence lead to the corruption of minds to automatically assume that two guys in a bar, having a drink together, are dating?

There is an old Biblical term: "As close as Jonathan and David." This goes back all the way to the time of King Saul, when Jonathan and David were such close friends, they could trust the other with their life with no sexual interaction involved. But too many cannot grasp this concept, and many even waste pure artistic talent on drawing several of the aforementioned pairs in a odd intercourse with the other.

This is not a thread about Gay people. This is a thread debating whether the people who can understand the true meaning of this homosociality (Note: Not Sexuality) or those who oppose them, are in greater numbers.

Please No Spamming, Religion bashing, and definately(!) NO IMAGES OF YAOI ON THIS THREAD!! Keep your opinions fair, and open-minded, unless the other should truely make not a lick of sense. It's really your desicion to agree or not.

I was hoping for a bit more intelligence in the matter, but then again, what intelligence is there to expect in a subject that is usually brought up by the errors of Fangirls?

Well... this was an epic failure... -_-"

You see, I'm trying to substaintly up my post number without spamming, and the Debate Corner was my only option because the other places where posts count, I find the topics to be "Not as satisfying." I mean intelligentally. But, I suppose I should at least give it a try. I need a 1,000 post total to finally reach Platinum.

I'm... going to agree. Fangirls. XD

No, in all honesty, yes, they CAN seem really close, but with gay couples being more prominent than they used to be, it can look a lot like a gay relationship. Sure, it may not be, but it can still appear that way.

Its not that people cannot understand it, its more like they choose not too. The way the media controls our world, sex is the highest on the list. Ads, magazines, and Internet is only a few places this is evident. People are gunna see something sexual before anything else.

Media controls everything, period. I can understand that being really close with someone that your not blood-related to is important, but still, sex always gets involved.

Radical Gay People are more dominant in today's world. The equivelant is an Army of God terrorist being Pope. And any remarks about Nazi-relevance to the current one are quite plainly stupid, to note as well.

Gay people have been in existence for over 2,000 years. It's just in that nature.

So, in this new culture where Radical gay people "help" to rule over what is tolerated, Fangirls are more likely to draw what they draw, and it must be loved and seen by all.

And the thing is, that Heterosexual images that are able to viewed in today's public are now popularly accepted. We are only a step away from Yaoi being on the cover of "People" magazine and everyone must deal.

I never said they hadn't existed. Yes, radical gay people are more dominant than they used to be, but just plain ol' gay people are more prominent as well; in previous times (at least, in the United States and most likely other countries), homosexuality was kept secret because it was seen as very wrong and disgusting.

I think it is a slippery slope. Religion has often come under fire, and my new catchphrase is "I blame Jesus". So people may start out thinking, "JesuzXpetar 4 teh lulz!!11!" but that may travel over to other things, like PoohXPiglet, etc. So it becomes an acceptable joke to make. Then it travels into real life and it may be used to mock some males sitting together. Then it passes into stereotype, and then the joke is lost, meaning if two males sit together, they are seriously considered gay. So slowly it goes from a clear joke about something to a mockery, to a stereotype.

That accounts for the masses. Then you get haters, who look for any fault with Sora, and as being gay is considered a bad thing, pairing him up with Riku is the obvious choice. There are also the fangirls, who think "Roxas=bishounen. Axel=bishounen. Akuroku=bishounenX2!" Make sense?

Oh, and there are the homosexuals around who enjoy pairing those people up and feed the stereotype.

So there are different motives of different origins. Humour, malice and lust, to name a few. But it gets seized by the masses, and soon it's a stereotype. Tada, there are your people who honestly think of JesusXPeter in a serious light.

Jokes, yes. I agree there. I mentioned Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis among the unfortunates who gets paired, and that was fired up because Jerry would smack Dean right on the lips to get a laugh. They also got married in one skit, and Jerry Lewis was in a bridal outfit. xD

It all starts with what feeds it all. What get's people to think it. Walt Disney loved Mickey Mouse more than he could ever think of loving a woman, King Saul thought the aforementioned Jonathan was becoming gay because of how close he was with David, and Axel... well... we can all pick a line and agree where people got the idea.

I once brought up the subject of simply Akuroku, and blamed it largely on Gay using a rallying beacon of sorts, but it turns out, not many Gay people actually do draw any kind of off Yaoi in characters that we generally know. They tend to wait for a character that is indefinatbly(sp?) Gay because the people who made that character said so, before they use that character for anything.

It's because people aren't truly okay with gay people yet. We went from stoning(with rocks not weed), to ostracizing, to ridiculing, to this. It's a progression caused by people(fangirls(fanboys)) who think of homosexuality as an exotic thing. It's interesting, different, "hawt". Take your pick but either way it is a construct of the feeble minded that can't understand an intellectual love and believe everything from clothing to personality is exclusively based on the sex drive. It's merely a way to get attention, have some fun, or act out a fantasy. The whole thing is empty and doesn't really make sense so I agree with Dalk that it is a simple matter that cannot be truly explained to any degree of satisfaction.

That's one side but you could also say that the next step, whole "no homo" behavioral pattern, is a reflection of insecurity people who unlike fangirls are not enticed by the idea but afraid of being corrupted by it, these people are equally weak because they find their own personalities so weak that they think anything that can be misconstrued as them being homosexual is wrong.

In short people just care too much about what others are doing and thinking, they need to get a grip on themselves and mentally steel themselves because it's stupid to let every little breeze blow their thoughts out of proportion.

Also, did you mean to type monogyny? I'm sure monogy is not a word.

I think the term is bromance. And I find no fault in it. Your best friend should be treated like family... Well in my case he is family. The point is some people read too much into things. When girls do it they call them their girlfriends, guys call them their best friend(bro)(bud)(insert friend suffix here). No matter what you call them they are treaded like that because they will be there with you through hell and high water.

I really agree with this topic. I think some really good friendships can be ruined because of fanfics and art. Axel and Roxas is the one that really bothers me. I think they've got a great friendship, but all that most people seem to see is that "they're gay." It's a real downer for the fans that just see them as friends. I'd like to say, "This needs to be put to an end." But that's not going to happen. So I'll say instead, "Let them have their opinions, and I'll have mine."

Note: I'm bi. Gay relationships DO NOT bother me.

No. You guys are overthinking this way too much. Fangirls make male best friends gay because they like the concept of yaoi. It's not gays in society, it's not any viewpoint on homosexuality whatsoever. The fangirls like yaoi. They also like Axel and Roxas. So they just think that AxelxRoxas is the ****.

Feel free to prove me wrong.

Leave it to TMMM to fangirls for everything... xD

They are only about 80% of the problem. The other 20% come from people who are too homophobic to embrace their friend's closeness.

    Fangirls; now in verb form.

Also 80% is still a ****ing giant stimulus for a problem this big. And I use "problem" VERY loosely, I don't see this negatively affecting anything nor do I see any homosexuals taking severe offense.

It was supposed to say blame fangirls...

The fact that fangirls warp the whole guy friendship thing is more than just them getting their jollys. I think it has something to do with them not understanding that guys can have a softer side with the same gender in a non-gay manner.
