Prologue - Fragment

Spoiler: The Prologue

In the Realm Of Darkness appeared nine white cloaked figures, who shown with an eldritch radiance that denied the darkness. They all stood in a circle, staring at each other. After a moment's silence, the tallest of the white cloaked figures stepped forward. "It is time..." the tall member began, his voice deep and empty like the sea of darkness in which they resided. "The Time Spiral will open the way to Kingdom Hearts."

"Fustax," spoke a petite member, her voice like silver bells. "What makes you so sure this will work?" She asked, voicing the cynical concern of her ilk.

"Do not insult my intelligence, Xeras," Fustax replied, his tone both amused and condescending. "I have performed this experiment numerous times with consistent results. If you have doubts, you have my permission to strike me down." He added wryly. Xeras backed down from the challenge, however.

"What of Maleficent?" Spoke another male member. His voice wasn't as deep as Fustax's, but it was just as hollow. "Wouldn't she prove to be an obstacle to us?"

Fustax laughed. "If she wasn't an obstacle, then our plan would be all for naught, my dear Taxend."

"Of course, Lord Fustax..." Taxend conceded, bowing his head. "It was a foolish question."

The leader nodded. "Are you all prepared to perform the Fragment?" He asked, glancing at the eight members. They nodded in unison and began to perform the task at hand, allowing the darkness to envelop them.

Chapter I​

Mark of Mastery Exam​

Master Hikari, the granddaughter of Kairi, strolled into the Chamber of Awakening where she summoned the keyblade wielders. She was tall and willowy, appearing younger than her actual age, with short brown hair. She looked a lot like Kairi, but some of her features resembled her grandfather a little bit more, like her hair color. She wore a black jacket with tight sleeves, a red tanktop, tight black jeans, and red-black shoes. Her brilliant blue eyes shone with excitement, something of which was abnormal for someone her age.

"Hey-a!" Hikari greeted, smiling. "Before we begin, please introduce yourselves. Your Exam will be done in two parts, so please be honest!"

 

"My name is Jason, pleasure is all mine." He looked around the hall, the others slightly worried him, but not by much.

 

Kaito looked around at the other wielder of the keyblade. He'd never thought he;d see this many of them, though he didn't know too much about the keyblade in the first place. There was only one person he vaguely remember seeing and that was only because they were from the same world. "You can call me Kaito."

 

Hickari wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to do, but he did decide to introduce himself. He yawned, then opened his mouth to speak. "My name is Hickari, i hope you're not upset when i'm the first keyblade master!" he exclaimed.

 

"Well, were a little cocky, aren't we?" Jason looked the other young man in the eyes. "Cockiness will be the downfall of more than just you or me, Hickari. Save your boasting until after it all is said and done."

 

Skylar looked around at the keybladers. Some were young and some looked around her age. she noticed one, Jason. he was kid back home in Twilight Town. Oh how she missed her home.
"Hello everyone," said the light pinkette with a kind smile and warm voice, the two things she was known for back home. "My name is Skylar." She then looked from each memeber. These were people like her, Keyblade wielders.
Today was the day to attain the Mark of Mastery. She was ready to show what she had learned. Did she think it would be enough to win? Well she hoped it would. Only time would tell. She looked at the female with the brown hair and dazzling blue eyes, Hikari.

 

Jason Blushed slightly, he had heard that voice too many times to not recognize it. "Skylar?" he thought to himself "Its been a wile, never knew she would be a wielder. But its great she is." he thought to himself.

 

Hikari listened to each Wielder with a smile and a nod, even laughing at Hickari (what a coincidence) when he boasted about obtaining the Mark first. Jason was quick to cut in, chiding the lad, but fortunately Skylar cut in with her introduction before matters could escalate between the two. After a while, nearly every Wielder introduced him or herself. Except a silver haired with a gloomy face. "And what about?" Hikari asked, pointing to the youth (no doubt the oldest of the bunch). "What's your name?"

He remained quiet and nonchalant, looking away. Hikari's brow twitched with impatience. Before Hikari could ask the question again, the youth spoke. "Sess..." the Wielder said, his tone a natural hiss with a gentle, slightly deep voice. Master Hikari gawked for a moment, but quickly recovered.

"What?" She asked.

"My name... it's Sess." Sess replied, brushing a loose lock of hair from his green eyes.

"I see..." she mumbled, as though trying to note everything about the youth. There was something dark about him. "Well... with that settled. I am Hikari, granddaughter of Kairi and Keyblade Master. I am your guardian for the Exam, as well as your judge and master. The first portion of your exam... is to uncover who is behind these attacks. You will all be divided into squads. Each squad will receive orders from me, privately, about their destination. The purpose of this portion is to not only have an edge against the Darkness, but to also teach unity and teamwork... as well as balance." She explained thoroughly, not once fumbling over her words. "The second portion of the Exam will be told to you should you pass the first and return in one piece. Now... are there any questions?"

 

"If I might inquire, how will we travle through out the worlds without being spotted? Isin't it imperritive we stay out of direct contact with the inhabatnts of other worlds?" Jason asked quizzicly.

 

Skylar looked to Jason and smiled, it was nice to see a familiar face.

Then her dark violet eyes looked to the man that spoke. Her heart did squeeze a littke as she heard him speak. His green eyes holding something in it that she couldn't make out from standing this far. She hoped that when they did split up she would be partnered with him so she could figure out who he was and take a closer look at his eyes. They always spoke the truth, she remembered someone saying a long time ago...

Her attention from Hikari and Sess was taken away from what Jason had to say. Good Question.

 

Hikari was about to answer until Sess spoke up. "What will be the point?" He asked rhetorically. "Heartless are blatantly attacking the residents of each, and possibly every, world. If we stay out of direct contact, many more people will lose their hearts. This is a war between us and those who despise the balance of things. It is more imperative for us to drive them back without all together extinguishing the darkness." Sess stated, his tone mocking.

Hikari quickly chimed in, "he's technically correct. However, it is wiser for us to not become directly involved with otherworldly matters unless it becomes absolutely necessary." She shook her head. "Nevertheless, you will all be issued a Gummi ship as a mode of transportation. However, these ships have a seating capacity of three... so each squad will be given a Gummi ship while given their destination. Any other questions?"

 

Skylar looked back to the man. His tone...it sort of...made her uneasy. Pushing back the turning of her stomach she looked to Hikari.

"When do we start?" She spoke up, filling the entire room with her voice. Her violet eyes sparkled in ambition. She saw being a keyblader a way to protect her world and others. She did not like the idea of standing around while other worlds were being taken over but she had patience and it was better to think first then act on a whim.

 

"How will you be choosing the squads?" Kaito asked. Was the choosing a matter of skill, what world they were from, or any other method behind it. He mainly wanted to know so he could see who he had the odds of being parred up with.

 

"Would you like to have more people than neccicary depending on you for help?" he spoke softly, so soft in fact his voice did not seem to exist."Gummi ships? Well aren't we fancy."

 

Hikari listened to both Kaito and Skylar, giving them both a coy smile. "You can start any time you're ready," she replied, turning around and preparing to leave the room. "You'll be ready when you form your three man team." Hikari added with a laugh, which was meant to sound diabolical. She didn't care how they formed their squad, so long as they did it. The thirty-or-so keybladers in the room began looking for potential partners as an uproar resulted in the Master's leave.

Sess remained silent and alone, apparently not caring about forming a team.

(OOC: Sorry I neglected to mention the amount of wielders in the opening. There are about thirty, plus you five.)

 

"Hey Skylar, would you like to join me on this? I figure of we work together, we have a running shot." Jason looked at the other Twilight Town Originator happily

 

Skylar looked at Sess once Hikari left and was about to walk toward him when she was stopped by Jason.

"that does sound like a good idea." She smiled lightly and looked back to the man. "all we need is one more person to complete the three." She said and motioned Jason to follow her.

Skylar had a feeling he might say no to joining their team. But its worth a shot... Right?

As the pinkette came closer she kept her distance from him.

"Hey, Sess." She said and looked at Jason before looking back to the green eyed man standing in front of them. "Jason and I want to know of you want to partner up with us?" Her tone was strong but her voice was light.
