It's more the fact of "The FOX Engine is fantastic! Let's use it to make nonplayable shit to watch while gambling instead of letting anyone use it for a worthwhile game!"

Uhhh the Fox Engine has nothing to do with that cutscene. I mean, it could be running it, maybe idk but there's an equal chance it's just a video player. Either way, those are just assets. You can import MGSV's assets into Source Film Maker and make that pachislot scene. Assets have nothing to do with an engine. The engine is just how and how well they run.

It's also been less than a year since MGSV. They said they wanted to continue the MGS series, they were hiring for directors, we'll know if they were willing to commit to that if we see the highly teased MGR2 in the next year or two.

I mean, I getchu.I had a big long reply typed up, but I get venting too much to continue. Just remember, it's not a sign of defeat! It can be positive! MGS being licensed for commercials and being made into a pa*****o shows that Konami wants to use the brand for merchandising, and for that brand to be viable they need to keep it rooted. So them remaking these assets and making them work in the FOX Engine along with them hiring new talent for the series could lead to a remaster with the new team to see if they can handle MGS. It's the JJ Abrams and Star Wars thing- prove you can do the formula right before you take risks. Gain trust, then run with it.

Brah, there was absolutely no reason for a pa*****o version of MG to be made. The Metal Gear series has enough fans that would buy the **** out of an HD version of MGS3, and Konami ditched aside that idea, for a pa*****o game. They hate consoles and only want to focus on gambling machines. And did you see what happened to the Silent Hills project? The one everyone was so hyped about? It was cancelled and stabbed to death by Konami, and instead, we got a pa*****o Silent Hill gambling machine.

Konami is done with consoles, and nothing good will come out of these pa*****o.

(except I would love to ****ing see HD cutscenes like these, but with Peace Walker.)

Did they ditch it? I don't remember them saying "We have considered the idea of a MGS 3 remaster, and have decided to not move forward. Please enjoy these new assets while gambling in Japan." and then going ahead and remaking all the assets and getting the team acquainted with FOX engine just to go NOP. DONE.

Konami basically lost its entire software development division with KojiPro's departure (forced or otherwise), so them saying they need to rehire makes total sense. Let's be real, shit sucks that they canceled SH but that has little to do with this... if anything? There's a high chance they knew they were losing Kojima before they canceled the project, so instead of switching directors and pulling a DMC2/Sonic 06, they canceled it. With all the reports that they tried to sell SH to Microsoft, it's probable that they just didn't have the man power to finish MGSV, oust Kojima, and polish up SH without losing public interest. Shit sucks, but it kinda makes sense. Sometimes life sucks. I too wish Kojima and Konami didn't have any creative conflicts, but it's better for Kojima and probably going to be better for Konami, even if it means they move out of gaming.

Like I said, give it 2-3 years. Saito has already been dodging questions about MGR2 instead of saying "Not gonna happen." Konami has a lot of valuable properties, likes money, and people do like video games. There's a range of things that can happen and we've seen Konami loose with the licenses already. Again, it's only been 9 months since MGSV. RE: MGS3 could be in development right now and this could be a way to make money. Or it could not be. We'll see, but it's far too early. Also, it was unnecessary to make Mario Party. It was unnecessary to make T2: Pinball. Doesn't mean those franchises died. I bet pachinkoinko players who're also game enthusiasts enjoy the MGS machine, but fuck them, right?

Also, you said a myth: "We got pachinko MGS. We got pachinko SH" We didn't get shit. Konami's the second largest gambling supplier in the world and even supplies the slots for the casino I work at, but they don't supply pachinko in the Western markets.
