    The First Balance
    Fan-fiction By Yumi&Hikari

Many years before Aqua, Terra, and Ventus were training under Master Eraqus, even before he was an apprentice, the first keyblade wielder was born of the light and darkness of the worlds. His name was Barasu, and he was the original Keyblade Master, with many apprentices who trained to balance the light and dark, and not destroy it. His own keyblade, what we know as Two become One, was a weapon conjured from his heart. Without it, he would die, and balance would become corrupted. But he knew that he was growing old, and he had to give his keyblade to a trusted apprentice. Myrtle, a spirited 12 year old who had a green thumb was a good choice, but she still lacked balance. Pyro, a 2 year old that had been entrusted to him by a fallen apprentice, was obviously too young. But he remembered the two babies that mysteriously appeared not too long ago. One a girl, with white hair, and the other a boy, with jet black hair. He decided to wait 13 years, when they were old enough.

Finally, the day came. The girl, who was named Hikari, was training with the now 25 year old Myrtle, and Yumi was in a corner playing with the darkness around him. Barasu called them, and split his keyblade in two. One half was pure light, and the other was brimming with darkness. He named them Oathkeeper and Oblivion. After the inheritance ceremony, he slowly disappeared, and no one saw him after that day. Pyro, now 15, was comforting Hikari after Barasu died. He promised her she would have a surprise when she saw him again. But before she left with a slightly jealous Yumi, he gave them both wayfinders, and promised Hikari he would be here waiting. Yumi narrowed his eyes at Pyro, and felt a dark presence through something close. He disregarded it, and they left together to bring balance.

A year later, after many encounters and battles, they returned home. Pyro kept his word and was there to welcome them. And after they were close enough, Pyro yelled in a menacing voice, “SURPRISE!â€. The world unfurled in darkness, and when they gained their senses, Yumi and Hikari both saw in front of them a now armored Pyro, his armor flooding with darkness. A long battle ensued, until Yumi collapsed. Before Hikari could help, Pyro seized her, and she struggled to free herself. With a last bit of strength, she used the light in her wayfinder to defeat him for good.

Exhausted, Hikari fell to her knees. Where Pyro once stood, was a cloaked figure. It was still Pyro, only weaker. Yumi got up, and saw in horror that Pyro was removing Hikari’s heart. He knocked him away, and tried to reverse it. But Pyro spoke in a raspy voice, protesting that if he touched her, darkness would overcome her, and she would be destroyed. Yumi ignored him, and put his wayfinder into her hand. She immediately clenched it hard in her hand, and the jealousy Yumi had felt on their journey became darkness that her open heart absorbed. Her hair turned black, and she released her light to make room for the darkness. Then she disappeared into Oblivion, the light hovering before Yumi. He cried, thinking about his failure, and how he had disappointed Barasu and Hikari. He took the light, and merged Oathkeeper and Oblivion, and created the X-blade. He sent Hikari’s light into the sky, and a heart shaped moon appeared. He released Hikari from Oblivion, and sent her to the moon. Then he joined her, and locked it with the X-blade. Oathkeeper and Oblivion fell to the ground, and were taken back to the Land of Departure, where they were protected and honored, never to be forgotten. As for the moon in the sky, it became a land where all hearts go when they are released. They called it Kingdom Hearts, and hid the secret of the X-blade, so no one would release the darkness and light within it.

Excellent story. Very well written, too (conventions, etc.).

The third paragraph is the one that really stuck out to me because of the surprises in it.

I think it could use more Donald and Goofy, but other than that, it's good.

Wow! Very Impressive work you've made here. The characters, the story, the surprises, and suspense were very nice.

Some mods: perhaps instead of using Two become One as the first blade, I was really looking to see X-blade, and then it being separated into the Kingdom Key and the one found in the Dark realm by Mickey (the gold one) Also, the character Pyro. That usually means fire, so to me his name didn't click. Perhaps Nox (also means darkness) would have been more sufficient. I don't know about seeing Donald and Goofy, But I'd love to hear more about Yen Sid.

I know it seems I'm ***ching more than complimenting, but I really did enjoy this, and I hope you continue doing this.

Thanx, I appreciate the ideas. I wanted to represent the light and dark aspects of the game by making Two become One the first keyblade, as it matches Barasu perfectly (His name means Balance in japanese). Pyro was named that to throw Hikari, Yumi, the other apprentices, and even the reader off, so that it would be suspenseful to find out that he was the dark presence Yumi felt before they left. I also wanted a character affiliated with fire, but the catch was that Pyro was only using the name and his specialty in fire magic to hide what he really was. I am working on another story following Eraqus and Xehanort as apprentices themselves. And I'll be sure to add in a lot of Yen Sid in that one! :)
