Basically, vote for which First Person Shooter game you think is the best of its time, meaning, that it wasn't necessarily the best EVER, but the best it ever could be, given the era.

When you first see the two games Goldeneye and Halo your instinct is obviously to go to Halo, because it has the graphics and such, but remember how the graphics of Goldeneye were, they were pretty great for the N64, especially if you had the Memory Expansion Pak.

Now, just because I said that, doesn't mean you have to believe it, vote for what you want.

If you dont think its any of these choices, post your pick.

MGS isn't really an FPS...you can use the fps mode but it isn't that great so it shouldn't be a choice (replace it with Medal of Honor). I would probably say none of these...but possibly Halo might be the best (haven't played any Halo game) because of how many people like it...but I like MOH and probably Call of Duty.

You mean I forgot about Portal.

The thing about Half-Life, is that it's the same time as Halo, which kinda makes it inferior.

How dare you make the accusation that Half-Life is a copy of Halo. You forget that Half-Life is incredibly superior to Halo. It's practically not even close to Halo. Explain at least three reasons Half-Life is inferior to Halo when Half-Life came out in 1998 and Halo was made in 2002?!

Sigh. I NEVER said it was a copy.

    Reason One: Halo has Multiplayer.
Reason Two: Superior Storyline (Apart from endings)
    Reason Three: Variety of weapons.

Reason Three...well Half Life has the gravity gun...which from my knowledge of all things gaming is probably one of the best things EVAR...Halo basically has future weapons with not to much added to it (Halo 3 probably has more interesting weapons because of that shield grenade thing).

Variety does not mean the quality of the weapons, but the quantity(of different weapons).

From the third reason, I'm guessing you are too lazy to actually work for your weapons. :/ How is Halo any different than from games like Doom? Doom also is set in space. Doom has a large assortment of weapons that can range from a machine gun to a BFG(which reminds me of Spartan Laser). BTW, Doom is also an FPS you forgot. Also, you forget that the computer version of Half-Life has a Deathmatch that comes with the game. I pretty much proved all of your points redundant, so that's a ****** argument.

MGS originally was a TPS and is barely considered a FPS now that the TPS has improved much more.

Metroid is the most advanced console FPS there is. It perfectly mixes gameplay. It looks beautiful. It overcomes all the traditional flaws in all FPS's which is they all march on a parade called "let's be like Halo and be about a space marine that goes in the corner and sucks his thumb to heal." I don't know what happened to health bars and traditional characters outside of metroid, maybe they showed up at a gaming party, got drunk, and acted like a dumbass so now everyone shuns them except Metroid which can look past one mistake... Point is, Metroid is damn near perfect and the only thing it needs is more weapons to be a such a great FPS none of us would ever touch Halo again.

No, actually with all of the newbs, you can't help but get pissed at the spammed grenades and rockets. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 has an incredible multiplayer compared to any Halo game.

Halo multiplayer takes no real skill at all. Socom, CoD4, etc, those are online games that take practice, and skill where you can own n00bs who didn't just put in the game and be good instantly because Halo is so simple.

    KWIK. SOMEONE CALL THE WAHHHHHHHMBULANCE.
Sorry, its an apostrophe, big deal

Reasons to support....the idea that Halo(Series) has the best multiplayer?

It's common sense, seriously, just ask anyone.

    Here are a few...I guess

    Chat.
    Proximity Chat Range.
    Lag is minimal.
Matchmaking is substantially easy and fast due to high population.
Wide variety of game types and many rule variations and options.

When you play on a ranked playlist (Halo 3) the game matches you up with opponents who have near the same rank and skill as you.

    -----------

    300 till prem, ugh.

But after less than an hour, it becomes stale and repetitive and it gets the same feel from the other two games. Seriously, if people only got Halo 3 because of the Multiplayer, you either have spare money to waste it or you're stupid. Graphics over gameplay is not how it should be nowadays. If you don't care for the story, stay away from Halo 3 and save the money for a game that is trusted. Dear God, with a game like Halo 3 that overhyped, you'd expect it to be the greatest FPS, but it isn't. Multiplayer is simple and it takes no skill to get a kill. Man, ranting mood all night tonight. Jeez...

That is exactly why Perfect Dark is the best.

How the hell did you go from Halo to Perfect Dark? Perfect Dark had an actual deep story and you could play as other characters in the story like the alien that Joanna saves. The thing I like about most is that each character has their own personality and doesn't keep it hidden through the whole game.

I know this, I played it for quite awhile until I got TF2 and CoD4. It's just gotten tedious and the only fun game is Team Slayer and Rocket Race and both make ranking up f*cking immpossible. CoD4 is far supeior as it has less lag, less crappy people, ranking system is FAR better, you don't have to memorize the maps since they're in the campaign pretty much, and it's actually fun where Halo 3 you always end up getting pissed at it.

I'm still wondering why MOH isn't on there...or Resistance (I heard it was good) because it has some really cool weapons...I just need a PS3...
EDIT: oh and shadowjak is right. My friends tell me that CoD4 is way better than Halo...although they (occasionally) play Halo just for some laughs but that's it.
