    And, while I'm almost POSITIVE nobody here knows the actual story, SYLOSE, I just have to see where this goes.

    So, let's get on with it, shall we?

    =~~~~~SYLOSE~~~~~=

    BACK STORY:

    A world-wide nuclear war has broken out. The once-powerful country of Eden is bombed by nuclear warheads launched from a nearby rival, Sil. Both countries exchanged fire until both were left in ruins, thousands dead. Denariu, Kavil, Haelos, Juroda, Gantul, and Faragoros then proceed to exchange nuclear warfare between themselves, one country thinking themselves better than the others, forcing all those who can't fight or defend themselves to take refuge in the dark eclipses of space.

    The war continues- decade after decade -until finally, the last soldier to have life in his lungs has been killed, dead from the massive amounts of radiation hanging in the air.

    Eden, laying in ruins, has long since recovered from the radiation, and in just enough time... if not, five children who had not managed to get away would have been killed.

    One boy, Jack, wakes up in the midst of all the chaos, his memory vanished, his family forgotten and lost, and his home destroyed by years of war. In this world, he will soon find out, things are not what they once were...

    ~~~~~~~~~
    So, there's the back story behind what this is about. And here's that kid, Jack, that I was talking about:
    Name: Jack, last name unknown
    Age: 18
    Gender: Male
    Height: 5' 6"
    Eye color: Blue
    Hair color/length: Brown, neck-length
    Current attire: Street clothes. Specifically, a black T-shirt with baggy khaki colored cargo pants.
    Attitude: Confused, quiet, and unresponsive at times.
    Back story: Jack was one of five survivors of the nuclear war that had broken out within the entire world. He can only remember his first name and age, while everything else is a mystery to him, including where he lives, who his family was, and why he was left to rot in the midst of a nuclear war.
    The template, as I have shown above, goes like this:
    Name:
    Age:
    Gender:
    Height:
    Eye color:
    Hair color/length:
    Current attire(clothes):
    Attitude:
    Back Story(bio):
    RULES OF SYLOSE:
    1. You can not powerplay.
    2. You can not god mod.
    3. Swearing is allowed to a certain point.
    4. There are to be NO sexual references of any kind.
    5. gore detail is to be kept at PG-13 level, which means no Dead Space-related stuff.
    6. Characters may pick up different equipment and weaponry, but are only allowed to use them as they are intended to be used. This is not an automatic loophole through the no god mod/power play rules.
    7. There is to be no flaming, no trolling, and no racial insults, even if they are OOC(Out Of Context).
    8. Have fun!
    There are only four spots open, since I did mention that there were only FIVE SURVIVORS of the war, and I have already taken Jack.
    FINAL NOTES:
    Note 1: Honestly, The actual story is taking forever, and this seems to help me think better on how to write the story.
    Note 2: This is my first day here, and I'm not entirely sure about what's right and wrong, so do be kind enough to tell me ahead of time if I'm starting to edge towards breaking a vital rule.
    Thanks.
    Current attire(clothes): A regular school-girl outifit; she had been wearing this before being knocked out.
    Back Story(bio): She woke up from unconsciousness, not aware of how long she had been out. Looking around the ruined area she could not even recognize where she was. With her normal determined attitude, she decided to find out; wondering if any of her family had survived.
    I hope this is okay~
    Well, since it appears that nobody else is going to join, I'm going to add this last guy in as a second character:
    Name: Chris Regan
    Age: 16
    Gender: Male
    Height: 5' 4"
    Eye color: gray
    Hair color/length: Brown, short and spiky
    Current attire: Standard military jacket, baggy brown cargo pants, standard military boots, and a white undershirt.
    Attitude: Commanding, determined
    Back story: Chris Regan was finishing up high school, having jumped a couple grades, when the war started. He was left almost completely unprotected and had nearly nothing to keep him warm when the cold weather began to return to Sil, but he found a dead soldier and took his jacket and boots off of him, along with his gun. Chris is determined to find who was responsible for this offense and bring them to justice in the only way he knows how:
    The death sentence.
    ~~~~~~~~~

    Now that we have that done and over with, I'll start off.
    -----------------

    Jack's eyes flickered open, the blur of the red sky slowly fading, his vision returning to focus. He felt as if he couldn't move, yet he still forced himself to his feet. Looking around, he saw that he was in the remains of a city...

    ...but, what city, exactly?

    A sign caught his attention. He walked over to it and examined it closely. Through the black scorch marks and bullet holes, he made out the words:

    WELCOME TO EDEN CITY
    POPULATION: 29,873 0

    The tattooed zero told Jack that the city was deserted. He felt around under the sign and latched on to something hard, metallic, and cylindrical. Pulling hard, he freed it and pulled it from under the sign.

    It was a standard-issue military battle rifle, an M-98108, to be exact. Open bolt, thirty rounds, about ten pounds, carried 7.62 mm cartridges. It took the shape of a G36k, but the back end took the shape of an M16 carbine, and both weapons had long since stopped being produced because of the technological advances reached some twenty years ago, January 13, 2776.

    Jack didn't know how he knew all this. All he knew was he did, he was alone in a city ransacked by war, and he had a feeling that there was something... inhuman here, as well.

    His suspicions were confirmed as he walked into a nearby shop, the one building left almost unharmed. Three soldiers laid dead on the floor, and behind them, three oddly-blue glowing... things, approached Jack. His fear caused him to shoulder his gun and fire upon all three, dropping each of them. All three disappeared, and Jack was left in the dark. Fumbling around, he found a flashlight and clicked it on, the light flickering as it passed over the room. Jack paused when he saw a knife sticking out of the wall. It looked to be a GLADIATOR Darkwing, the only type of blade in Eden to have three edges, each as sharp as a needle, and about twenty times as painful. Jack took the weapon out of the wall and slid it into the back of his belt, then made his way back out of the shop.

    There was a white ring tattooed on the ground, and- if his eyes weren't deceiving him -Jack thought he saw a human figure dart through the shadows.

    Yet another thing caught Jack's eye. He walked into a house and picked up a fallen picture frame.

    He nearly choked when he saw the picture.

    It was him. He was six, wearing what one could only describe as a happy smile. Behind him stood three people: A taller version of him, probably his brother; a man with a beard and graying hair, most likely his father; and a woman, probably entering her thirties, with blazing red hair, his mother. The rest of the picture, Jack couldn't make out because it was splattered with blood and blackened from the fire that had consumed the house. Jack concluded that he had lived here, and he hadn't gotten very far before the first nukes were dropped on his home.

    Veronica slowly opened her eyes, blinking several times until her vision was no longer a complete blur. She placed her hand over her forehead, closing her eyes and letting out a quiet groan. Something had happened. She slowly sat up, her head throbbing. As she sat up, she rubbed her temples, looking around the area. Everything was in ruins. She placed her hands against the pavement, assisting her to stand up. As soon as she was on her feet, she stumbled forward, due to her headache. Veronica took a deep breath, lowering her head and closing her eyes for a brief moment. She can't remember anything. Everything that had happened was a complete blur to her. She cursed under her breath as she began to walk. She kept a slow pace, trying not to strain herself. She felt injured but it's possibly just her head. Might as well see if there's anyone that's alive. she thought to herself.

    As she walked, she saw several dead bodies. The sight disgusted her. She placed her hand over her mouth, having the urge to gag. But, she resisted. She figured she might as well try to be strong if she is the only person alive. Then again, it'd probably drive her insane to be alone, completely. She could still feel her head throbbing but, the pain had calmed down. Veronica mumbled something under breath, crouching down. She placed her elbows against her knees, panting. I need water. She looked around, trying to spot any store that could possibly still be standing. A house in the corner of her eye caught her attention. She stood up and quickly walked to the front door. She tried turning the knob but it was locked. Veronica took a step back, preparing herself to kick the door down. She narrowed her eyes, hoping it would work.

    Jack continued forward towards the white ring, but his path was about to be obscured.

    Looking up, he felt his eyes widen, and he jumped out of the way as a large building came crashing down right in front of him.

    Jack figured he'd have to get used to these little surprises.

    He turned to leave, but a strange noise forced him to turn back. There, he saw a swarm of those nonhuman creatures slowly making their way towards him.

    This is not turning out to be a good day... he thought to himself, shouldering his gun and firing at any of them that charged. Every now and then, he'd have to use his knife, but that didn't bother him.

    They all died fairly quickly.

    And they all vanished as fast as they had appeared.

    Jack shook his head, silently wondering how it was that he had managed to retain his sanity after waking up to see death, decay, sorrow, and madness. But it didn't matter to him now. All that mattered was getting out of the city, out of Eden, while he still had the chance. He doubted anybody was alive, so that priority dropped to second on the list.

    But there was still a nagging in his mind that said, maybe, if he just looked hard enough for clues, he would find a survivor.

    Veronica took another step back, raising her head, looking up at the building. It looked as if it was ready to collapse. She felt a sweat drop come down from her brow. She lowered her head, staring at the door. She had a feeling if she kicked it down, the building would just collapse. Or, if she even went in there, it would come down on her. Veronica spun around, leaving the front door of the house, wondering if she would find a different entrance. She walked around the house, heading to the backyard. It actually didn't even look like someone's backyard. It was completely destroyed. She then saw the back door was wide open. A smile passed her lips as she ran to the front step. With each step, she was careful. She would just go in and look for something to drink, then get out.

    Jack jogged as fast as he would allow himself, given that those inhuman... whatevers... were very hearing adept, and if he wasn't as silent as possible, they'd go after him again.

    A piece of rubble blocked his path, but not for long. He used it as a ramp to launch himself over the small barricade, landing hard on the road below. Another white ring. Jack guessed that these were safe zones at one point in the war, when troops needed desperately to plan their next attack and heal any harmed members of their units.

    Jack expected another building to crash in front of him, but instead, all he saw was another human form dart by. Just a shadow. Jack didn't pursue it, because he could see a dim blue glow, and he was cautious about that now.

    Her bright green eyes opened to the hazy red sky. Her dry, pink lips parted slightly; the taste of asphalt coating them. She coughed in a slight panic, sitting up quickly and leaning forward. Her eyes closed as she continued to cough, placing a slender, pale hand onto her stomach. Her lungs were filled with the smoke and dirt floating around in the atmosphere. After a long recovery, the small girl sat up on her bruised knees with a wince and a small gasp. She looked around slowly, a knot settling in her stomach as she noticed the ruins around her. Instantly, tears began to fill her eyes. Why had this happened? Everything was ruined. Everything. And what if she was the only one who survived?

    The girl shook her head, blinking the tears away. She would cry later. This wasn't even close to the end. She had to look for survivors. Being naturally stubborn, even in her own company, Kaylee quickly stood. Too quickly. She brushed her hair back and ignored the oncoming migraine and looked around again. Her stomach churned and she grimaced. How long had she been unconscious? Where was she, even? She had to slow her mind down.

    "Just relax..." She told herself, closing her eyes and ignoring the tremors being sent through her small, frail body. "Slow dow-down...It'll be fine. Right."

    With that, Kaylee brushed off her uniform and began to walk, searching for any sign of recognition. She wiped her mouth with the back of her sleeve and stumbled forward, wincing was she stepped on her right ankle. She must have sprained it. She pushed forward however, not being the type to step down so soon. Even from the smallest challenge.

    Jack tripped unexpectedly over a rock and collapsed on to his face, sending out stray shots into the air as his gun misfired. As he pushed himself back to his feet, he had the funniest feeling that things were about to get ugly.

    Again.

    And he wasn't far from correct, as out of the blue, thousands of the inhuman freaks appeared, seemingly waiting for him to make a move.

    Here's your move, you lousy sons of *****es... Jack thought to himself, pulling out his knife, he gripped his gun in his right hand, and twirled his knife into a reverse grip in his left. The fight was on, now.

    One after another, the freaks came at Jack, each meeting some form of end that soon left Jack standing alone once more.

    Or... was he alone?

    Jack saw a third human shape dart past his eyes, and pursued it. He was determined to find another survivor, even if it meant he would have to fight a thousand of those freaks with nothing but his bare hands.

    [EDIT: Oops, I meant to put a period after "himself". My bad.]

    Kaylee jumped at the loud sound of gunfire; a short yelp escaping her lips as she did so. The painful throbbing in her ankle increased and she squeezed her eyes shut. She didn't want to, but she stopped in front of a crumpling building, her hands at her sides as she grimaced.

    Where had the sound come from? Was it wise to follow it?

    In any other case, the answer would have been a quick 'no'. However, even within that short amount of time, Kaylee was getting desperate. The thought of more survivors excited her slightly and made her hopeful. She moved slowly towards the sound, hiding her pain well as she took her careful steps. Her eyes narrowed.

    Up ahead she could see a figure. She stopped, wondering if it was friendly. She stood, trying to figure out what she should do. It frustrated her that she was being so indecisive, but she had no other options.

    Jack could see somebody ahead. It looked as if this one was human.

    Finally.

    But, and Jack didn't know why, he was extremely wary of his surroundings, and had gotten a massive creep-out when he saw a soldier speared on a hook and hung on the roof of a building, soon followed by another crackling in flames.

    Jack slowly made his way forward, his gun lowered, but ready, in case he should need it. He was done taking chances. If this wasn't a survivor, then he would solemnly conclude that he was, in fact, alone.

    Kaylee stood her ground, not showing how scared she actually felt. Her features were calm, her shoulders tensed and lips pierced. Her eyes narrowed as she cocked her head slightly to the side. A glimmer of light caught her eye and she gazed at a hatchet digging into the dirt beside her. Hesitantly, she knelt and picked it up by it's handle just in case. She stared ahead of her, her grip tightening as the man got closer. She stayed silent, the wind blowing past them, kicking up the dirt slightly.

    Kaylee stepped closer to the man and to the building, wondering if he was a friend or foe to her, but not finding her voice to ask.

    Jack felt his hand reach for his own knife by instinct, but instead locked around the picture he had slipped into his belt for keepsake.

    He felt the tears strike again.

    Jack frustratedly swiped at them. Now was not the time for crying. Not when there wasn't anybody to see them, at the very least. He looked up and continued inching his way forward, until he saw that this person was in fact human... and she was going for a weapon.

    Jack felt his blood run cold as it was aimed squarely at him.

    He felt no desire to shoot survivors, so he just calmly dropped his gun(spraying more bullets off to the right), put his knife down, and stood with his hands behind his head. Hopefully, this would give a clue that he was in no way a threat to survivors.
