Kingdom Hearts Stupid Question

but i must know. Its been bothering me for a while now. What's the difference between a heartless and a nobody? they BOTH have no hearts....
reallu, i can't figure it out..because if the difference is that the Nobodies dont have feelings, thats stupid because do HEARTLESS have feelings? ...because they have no HEART? =/

 

It's more of the semantics behind it.

It's sort of elusive, but Heartless aren't beings without hearts. They're actually the heart itself, transformed. The Heartless were always supposed to represent the darkness in all living hearts. It is *also* important to note that this 'darkness' isn't synonymous with evil. Heartless in actuality are more like the raw desire and impulse of the human heart--which isn't evil by definition. Anyway, that's why in KH2, Organization XIII wanted Sora to go out and slaughter more Heartless so he could fuel Kingdom Hearts. If Heartless *really* didn't have hearts, why would Saix tell Sora to keep killing Heartless?

It's also a good aesthetic to note that whenever you kill a Heartless, a little glowy heart floats out of them, another indication that these Heartless, do in fact, have hearts.

Nobodies on the other hand, are empty shells. They actually do not have hearts.

 

They aren't? O.O; But..that's so confuzzling....Transformed by darkness... right? o.o; Well, i guess..but desire and impulse can lead to evilness i think...
but darkness and evil...well..to me they kind of go together like oreos and milk...
*sighs* I get it now i think heh, but still, they should call them something a little more...right. instead of heartless..just too confusing. Anyway, Nobodies are just what remains of the Heartless right?Like a snake's skin?? O.O;
wow,anyway yeah,i've seen the hearts coming from them and stuff , but i never really...thought that deeply about it...you must really study the game to know that much about it...thats so cool!O_O

 

When a person loses their heart, the following things happen:

Their heart has left their body, and it is reborn as a Heartless.

The heart is gone, and the body is left. Mind you that three elements are needed for a life: Heart, Body, and Soul. The body starts to act on its own without a heart, and that, is a Nobody. The Soul is trapped in the Realm of Darkness when the heart is lost in the first place.

Also, Kairi has a Nobody but no Heartless because her heart was using Sora's as a vessel and thus it was never reborn.
