Title is yet again, not related to this, I am listening to that song lol. Did this today because I wasn't inspired musically, so I played some Pokemon Y and was inspired to make this. Trying something different from my colorsplosion style. Also experimenting with a minimalistic style. Most of this signature was made by the color adjustements itself, actually, it has less than 20 layers of things (If you don't include all the duplicated layers I do incase I mess something up). I consider coloring the strong point of this one. Also, I know text is barely readable, but I had barely space to work with the clipping masks. <_< CnC is as usual appreaciated.
Nooooo I love this. D: the text is the only thing that gets me. Maybe if you blured it? o: or give it a shadow, mm yeah that might work. Either then that I really like this. <3 good work. :3
There we go, added a version with the text with a drop shadow. Looks a bit nicer IMO. Surprisingly that thought didn't pass over my head before, so thanks a lot for the suggestion!
Ah yes dark blues with bright reds u 3u My favorite As much as I like the text, I feel like it doesn't blend very well in either version. In the first it's just a mash of color in the middle of a bright red streak, and in the second it's the only thing that really pops out. Can't tell you what I'd do to fix that - Getting rid of it altogether would be a hard sacrifice, and applying fancier effects would ruin the minimalism. I notice you have a blood splatter effect in the top right? Maybe if you applied a bit of that to the bottom left as well, it would balance things out. Or maybe it would just look cluttered, Idk. Either way, great work overall, good use & manipulation of the subject matter's color, love the contrast in lighting between the middle and sides.
I do love this peace but I have to agree with Nova on the text (I think the drop shadow is better than no drop shadow) but I think you could get it in the middle a bit by dropping the opacity and blurring the drop shadow (or just using the normal drop shadow tool) just to make it less bold. I would also suggest having it affected by the lighting- firstly, the drop shadow is in the wrong direction for the lighting in general and it is a lovely lighting effect and the text should be behind it so it is blended better. This is all sounding very negative xD But I do love the dark colours with the reds, it's simple yet effective.
Alright, thanks to both of you for your kind and honest critiques, I made a third version with the drop shadow slightly blurred, faded and made it match the lightning. Honestly I don't see an easy way to fix the text, and indeed getting it removed would not only be a waste, but would make the foreground seem more empty. Anyways, thanks to all of you again! Honestly, this one started out with me randomly smudging Yveltal on a gradient background lol.
That is better, I gotta say. Now it seems more level with the rightmost claw, like they're on the same plane. Good work = w=b
