Seriously. I did not expect what they did for 3DS. They changed it from a Final Fantasy meets Disney game to a Square meets Disney game. I feel like I just got smashed in the head with a baseball bat. Think of the possibilities. We could get more characters from Square's previous games. The 3rd Birthday. Chrono Trigger. Sword of Mana. Dragon Quest. Super Mario RPG. There's an actual way for them to put Mario in the games now. Speechless.

You're an idiot if you think that Square would be able to get characters from Super Mario RPG in their games. Do you really think that Nintendo would allow that?
SE owns the characters just as much as Nintendo, and I don' t see why Nintendo would mind SE using them in a 3DS game. Maybe Disney wouldn' t agree though ... Anyway, I doubt we' ll see much SE characters that aren' t FF related (apart from short cameo stuff) unless they really make sense from a story perspective.
On the one hand, they can use any Square license if you are right. On the other hand, they can use any Square license if you are right. This is a very bad idea no matter how I look at it. Unless they pull some good ones out miraculously...
I have a love/hate relationship with this idea. Mainly hate. On the pros side, we might actually get Square WORLDS. On the cons side, this would probably blow up in their faces.
The original characters, maybe. We all know that the best parts of SMRPG were Mellow and Geno, not Mario, Peach and Bowser.
Nomura's putting mostly characters he designed. The only cameo so far that wasn't his was Vivi, which I think was a suggestion from someone inside. And even then, we know how important he was in KH2.
The point is, KH (barring original characters) used to only have Final Fantasy and Disney characters. No other Square-Enix characters were used besides those of Final Fantasy until now. I, personally, am quite interested to see just what's in store for Neku in this game...~
Huh? What're you talking about? There's no Final Fantasy characters in Kingdom Hearts. Stuff from the Mana series should be in the KH series more than these other games. It's a spinoff of Final Fantasy anyways.
I don't mind if they toss Square characters in there, but I don't want it turn into "LOLOLOL LOOK AT HOW MANY OF OUR GAMES WE CAN PLUG." because that would be bad. ._.
