Wow Square Enix. This is the biggest let down since they discontinued the plans to release Fullmetal Alchemist 3 in North America. Hehe, if this was 4chan, this thread would have an entirely different meaning...
Well that makes me quite angry. I really enjoyed TWEWY. Ugh, do they not understand that some people want things that are NOT in their mainstream?
Oh boy, I can't wait for people to not read the actual article, and instead a blogger's interpretation of what they thought he said! *reads this thread* OH BOY, MY DREAMS HAVE COME TRUE If you read the article you would see that Wada said "We need to stop being the "typical Square Enix", which means he's talking about how they need to stop just being "That company that pops out a Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest every once and awhile", he's saying that they need to expand their portfolio of games and do more than just things with "Final Fantasy" in the title and remakes. Hence why Wada is extremely excited for the worldwide release of Infinite Undiscovery, and why he wants to company to cut back on the Mobile Phone market which is saturated with cash-in titles.
It seems that this isn't as bad as people are seeing. If anything, it seems that Wada wants to get back to actually having more quality games and less to do with these sidequest phone stuff etc. I'm all for it as I enjoy quality rpgs and games like Coded and the FF7 game which have info etc on them, but not everyone can hope to get seems like a big money waste when quality should be more the issue. Maybe there's some hope after all.
FINAL FANTASY VII REM-*shot* In all seriousness, when they messed with a mainstream title last, we got FFXII, and it looks liek theyre making them stick with mainstream stuf, meaning they will be more inclined to mess around with tht stuff instead. I agree with him, they should make new IPs, that's what TWEWY, The Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery and Sigma Harmonics are for, though maybe IU dosen't count since it is developed by Tri Ace and published by SE?
I agree with Muffinman, the blogger took it out of context and misinterpreted what Wada said...He doesnt want to kill originality, he wants to end the slew of FF7's, and crap titles like that. He wants to promote NEW titles, like TWEWY, IU, etc. anyone that says this is a bad idea is clearly an uneducated baffoon. Read the full story before jumping to conclusions.
