*Spoilers. Head back now if you haven't finished or or don;t want to know the end* So, I just finished Death Note, but the I don;t entirely understand the very end, with the cult marching. Why do they believe that Kira is their saviour and why did the girl on the last page have Shinigami Eyes? Was she Misa-Misa?
So you finished Death Note too, huh? Epic, amirite? Well, in the 13th book (Death Note: How To Read), there's an interview with both the artist and author of the series. The author explains that. . . SPOILERS IF UR WEIRD AND YOU FEEL LIKE YOU NEED TO READ THE ENCYCLOPEDIA (HOW TO READ BOOK) WITHOUT HEARING ANYTHING ABOUT IT FIRST!!! (lol)::: The girl near the end is NOT Misa-Misa. Also, she doesn't have shinigami eyes. I thought she had them too, and it was just a "loaded gun" that could have hinted towards a shoot off from the main story that the author and artist were planning on doing at a later date. However... "It's not really anyone. In the thumbnails, it was a woman whose face was hidden. I thought that could work well too, but I think I personally wanted to draw something pretty in the final chapter. There's no real motif, I just tried to capture the scene. - Obata, the artist guy in the interview section "The 13 Truths about Chapter 108". Another thing, about the Kira worshippers. Both the artist and the author said that Light was one of their favorite characters, despite the fact that its kinda easy to say he was "evil". He managed to partially achieve his "utopia", but it was short lived. His death was extremely ironic. His murder-spree of "evil" people gave those who were put down, wronged, or heavily affected by other people were given hope. They honestly believed, in that troubling time, that a "god" or "higher being" (not the one on this site :3) was passing judgement among the bad dudes, and the good people were going to receive a "heaven on earth". However, its ironic, because Light experiences a terrible death, by the same thing he was wreaking havoc (not the xact same death note, but yeah). Ryuk, the one who caused the whole thing (at least, he deserves the most blame IMO), ended his life, while he was pitifully crying out. The "Kira Worshippers" came out and honored him the most after he was dead (they didn't specifically know this, but the killings stopped, so they thought "He" was on a hiatus, in the very least). Light did not want to be remembered/worshipped after death, but while he was alive. Also, the final scene is amazing, due to the bright moon. Remember Light Yagami's name? The Kanji? XDDD Its perfect. Yes, I do like Death Note too much, and I did notice a majority of these things just while reading the manga. However, the 13th book is amazing, and clarifies a lot of things. Its around 15 U.S. dollars, but I think its worth it. Hope I helped?
