Something like they did with Microsoft Word to prevent spelling errors like in the fanfic sections. I noticed I make lots of typos(and I'm sure lots of other members do), so couldn't there be something like that?

There is something like that already. At the top right of the Quick Reply box, there is a symbol with the letters "ABC", and a check mark underneath it. Click on it, and a pop-up will appear. Click "OK", and you will be directed to a page where you can download a program that checks spelling. Once you download it, right click on your message and select "Check Spelling."

I knew about this before, but I actually only downloaded it just now XD

If I remember right Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox also do this automatically. You won't be notified from small letters (e.g. I & i) though. On Firefox I think it can be turned off and on, not sure about Chrome yet.

As far as I know, Chrome doesn't have the ability to disable spell check.

There is a spell check equipped on most browsers. Mozilla, Chrome, IE have them and I think Opera does too. You should be able to turn them on in the browser.
